Letter size text weight cardstock paper (just your typical cardstock paper)

Question would you use white butcher paper to create these flowers and can you paint butcher paper

I use cardstock paper text weight, but I’ve done butcher paper and it works fine. Painting butcher paper is trickier since it doesn’t hold the wetness as well as cardstock paper.
