There's a lot of DIY'S on how to make or create your own hog light. I just did some research and came up with a different idea. I spent $125.00 and made a light that was just as bright as the other high end lights on the market.

They are a lot less expensive than the "name brand" hog or feeder lights.

@@TexMexOutdoors The brighter the better my friend. I've got a property to check out for hogs, thought it might be a cheap way to initially check out possible hog activity. Sometimes I will get a 5 gallon metal paint can and drill some holes in it and fill it with corn then hang it from a tree by a chain as an inexpensive test spot "feeder". If they bump it around corn falls out, kind of like a hanging pig pipe I guess.

@@EC-mc7vg it does get expensive buying equipment and gear. I hunt on 2 different properties but they belong to friends of mine. My gear their property so we share the spoils. They use my gear witch is the feeder , the 2 man stand , and the lights. One of my friends sold there 75 acres so we had to pull the gear off so now were looking for another place to set up. We live in Houston so there's always opportunities.

I just looked up the same light in my Amazon purchase history and the light was upgraded to the one you see for more almost $160.00 . There's similar solar street lights you can use that do the same. Just pick one that best fits your budget. The one I have still works real good.

@@mikerice6237 the poles are in 2 pieces. 1 section is 20 foot and the other is 4 foot . The 4 section is the one i drive into the ground. Then second section i screw on top with the lights attached on them . You can adjust the height of the lights. I have them set about 12 feet off the ground.

how far does the remote work? Like 100 yards?
@TexMexOutdoors
@TexMexOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
The remote only works at 18 yards . We leave it on the sensor mode but on low power all night so the hogs get use to it. Then when we get there we use the remote to turn it up to the hight setting . Thats around 7 before the hogs come out.
@tilerwilliams7470

@@TexMexOutdoors I really like your set up. My issue is the distance the remote gets. Do you think there is a way or another light that I can run a line back to the camp and attach it to a switch? I just would like it to be continuously on for a while is all
@TexMexOutdoors
@TexMexOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
@@tilerwilliams7470 ohhh yeah with out a doubt . They sell them either solar or electrical. It's up to us to choose the method. If you're feeder isn't that far from camp then run a electrical one with a switch.
@candytits3660
@candytits3660 3 жыл бұрын
@@tilerwilliams7470 if you want to run a wire all the way back then use a manual dimmer switch, not a remote control. The less electronics, the less stuff to break. I run mine on a photocell sensor plug (the ones made for Christmas lights to turn on automatically after the sun goes down). It has manual settings for on after dark for 2,4,6,8hrs or on all night/off at sunrise. I set mine at 4hrs on after sunrise, so it runs to about midnight every night. I do most of my hunting before midnight. I run the Kaper II green led bar light from amazon, it's bright and quality. I have mine on a car battery and solar panel so it runs 4hrs a night, every night, all year without needing charging.

@@candytits3660 I did something very similar but I used a fade on/fade off dimmer for my lights so they slowly come to full brightness over 20 seconds and then fade off over 20 seconds when it stops sensing motion

So, did it work and not spook the hogs?
@TexMexOutdoors
@TexMexOutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
Yes it does but to ensure that the hogs don't get spooked by the lights I was adjusting the brightness from low to high on motion sensor over a two week span.
