DIY Hair Product Testing! | Crazy Color Lime Twist

Some handy hints! Always do the spot test a couple of days before you dye to make sure you're not allergic. Never apply dye with your bare hands. Never leave dye on if it's itching/burning quite badly. And when using Crazy Color specifically, note that using on naturally light or pre-lightened/bleached hair, it will come out VERY luminous! Crazy Color was very easy to use, didn't smell bad, and did NOT burn in the slightest - very gentle on skin! Would highly recommend! I use Crazy Color in vermillion that for my extensions, when I dye my own hair, I leave the dye in for over an hour before washing it out. I also noiticed that washing it with cold water makes the color stay longer/more vibrant.

Yeah cold water closes your hair follicles. It's also good to use conditioner and try keep your hair free from too much sunlight and chlorine to keep the colour in. Crazy Color is so great! :-D

Conditioner dilutes dye, so if people think a dye is too vibrant as it is, they add conditioner to dilute it and get a more pastel version of the colour :-)

Also (user of crazy colour for years) if you use the colour on dry hair and fully coat, the colour will be even more vibrant as the wet hair dilutes the product to help it go further. :)

+Terr0rByte1 yeah I know it seems a little silly, but in all honesty you can't really do anything wrong with crazy colour or any semi permanents as the product doent damage the hair a d in some cases it actually conditions it. When on dry hair your hair soaks in the moisture taking more colour with it :) many people use it on dry hair. I have found using it on wet hair to begin with makes is not last as long maybe it's a ploy so you use more? not sure to be honest. However when used on dry and fully coated you are less likely to have any patchy areas I feel although having it wet spreads it easier. It's really down to prefrence

i have tried this before but i didn't get the same result like you...my hair color was black when i did use the color...then i saw the color needs conditioner also so i mix both and applied on my hair then i got the color before this i've bleached my hair i want to color my hair again and my hair color is bubblegum blue so what i need to do ...please suggest me how i mix the color with conditioner i mean the quantity of color and conditioner for best result

+Asit Das I wouldn't recommend mixing conditioner with the colour because it dilutes it and makes it less effective. I would suggest bleaching your hair, and then using the colour without anything else. That's what I did. You can get your hair bleached at a salon or use Crazy Color bleach - they both work well. I hope you get success the next time you dye it!

I've got crazy color in the shade hot blue. I applied it on a test strand of hair and it turned out to be way darker than I expected ! Can I add conditioner to make it lighter ?

Yes, adding conditioner and mixing it into the dye before you apply it will make it lighter :)

I'm using Lime Twist right now and my hair is fuckin' epppppiccccc. I did find that it looked a bit.... mental after the first couple of dyes, but with build-up the colour has evened out really well and it still super neon and awesome!

+Tzentsuitzan Deco I've been to clubs with this colour hair and while it doesn't fully GLOW super bright, it still stands out and even if it's really dark, you can tell it's a bright colour, it does have a bit of a neon quality to it :-D

Craig Israel Well, as you can see, it came out really neon - this video doesn't even do it justice, it was really really UV style bright in real life, especially in the sun. It depends what your natural hair colour is and if you've bleached your hair recently. Mine went so bright because I bleached it a month before I used this, but if you haven't and your natural hair colour is any darker then sandy brown, it won't come out as bright as this, it'll be more muted.

+babs Hey! Thanks so much! And from my experience, Crazy Color doesn't have too much of a bad effect on hair - as long as you don't dye or bleach it too often and you use a good conditioner and don't wash it too often, it should be fine - it has no peroxide or harsh chemicals like that in, so it's pretty gentle :-)

+Asit Das Usually, if you bleach coloured hair, it will turn the hair a very very light shade of the colour it was, or sometimes completely get rid of the colour and leave your hair a light blonde :-)

+maighread mc kelvey Well each dye is different - the Lime Twist and Bubblegum Blue lasted pretty much a whole month, but the pinks only stick for about a week in my hair. I haven't tried any purple dyes in this brand, although I'm planning to in the near future. If you need it to wash out within a week, I'd recommend going for a lighter shade, and if you need to get rid of it, you can also buy a bleach bottle by them for the same price, and going swimming in chlorinated water and washing your hair with anti-dandruff shampoo are both sure fire ways to get dye to fade :-)

I really wanna dye my hair dark blue (I use Manic Panic After Midnight) and my natural hair color is dark brown near black. Pre-lightning your hair does make the dye last longer and the color pops out even more, but I'm scared of the bleaching part ;_; any ideas on how to find home bleaching kits?

Hey! I've used Violette and Hot Purple, and they give pretty much exactly the same results, so I don't think you need to mix them unless you really want to. And since your natural hair colour is black, I'd recommend bleaching the sections you want to colour, otherwise it will either not work at all or be barely noticeable. Crazy Color sell home bleach kits that you can use, and also a neutral one which is like a more mild version of bleach, if you're worried about taking it too light. Aleena Mathew Hot Purple and Lavender might be better - in my experience, Lavender is quite pinky purple and only lasts a couple of weeks, so it might turn pink-blonde after a while, and the rest of your hair might still be darker. It would definitely have more distinction than with Violette. Also, if you're mixing colours, I've heard that mixing Aubergine with Hot Purple makes it stay dark purple for longer. Just things to think about! You can find the mild bleaching kit on the Crazy Color Website, it's called Neutral. :-)

Aleena Mathew I've heard that Neutral either pastel-ises your current colour or generally lifts it to a lighter shade, which is kind of like bleach - however, it might be best to do the bleach kit thinking about it. You can monitor how it's lifting by scraping a little of the bleach away from a bit of the hair to see what colour it's gone :-)

Mai ABDELRAZEK Maybe it's to do with how long you left it and how you treated it. Some people's hair doesn't take dye properly unless you leave it in for around an hour, and also, things like your shampoo and conditioner can affect it and make it less effective. If you don't mind me asking, what was your dying method and how did you wash it out? :-)

+mad mike Not really - Lime Twist is one of the strongest dyes I've tried. It took a month until it faded to the point that I wanted to re-dye it, but it was still pretty damn green. If you're hoping to get rid of it fast, I wouldn't recommend Lime Twist. I haven't tried any greens of the same brand yet. If you're looking for something that disappears fast, I'd recommend trying out a hair chalk - they're really easy and fast to put in, and it comes out in a couple of washes :-)

+Gabrielle I'm afraid I've never tried Lilac! Out of the blues and purples, I've used Bubblegum Blue, Hot Purple and Lavender, and Lilac's kind of inbetween blue and purple. The Bubblegum blue dyes an even colour, while the purples tend to fade quite differently, and often, a purple will fade to become blue. So from what I can guess, the Lilac will be a medium purple-blue that may become more solid light blue as it fades, but I'm afraid I can only guess :-p

I didn't bleach it before I used it, and it turned out neon enough! I think even if you have quite dark natural hair, Lime Twist will probably turn out quite well anyway, it's a pretty strong colour, but even if you did want to make sure it definitely went bright, you wouldn't have to do a full on bleach - maybe just a neutralising toner or a light bleach to lift your natural hair colour just a little. I would try it without bleach and see how it works first!

I re-dyed it after a month, but it was still green even after that long, just a more muted version. I imagine if I'd left it to fade totally by itself, it would still have been green for at least 6 weeks in total. Lime Twist is definitely the longest lasting out of all the Crazy Color dyes I've used, it's very potent!
