I like the concept of this but I do think I agree with Penn when it comes to this particular room and these colors. But that’s just a matter of personal taste, so if you love it that’s great!! And I’m impressed by how quickly you were able to do it and how good the individual lines look (as far as being straight and the uniformity and such), so props to you!

I’m half and half. The finished project from a distance was fun, but looked more for a child’s room like Monica’s original idea. I think if the wine color were instead another blue/gray shade or tint, it would look less “claw-like” - I agree with Penn that it’s a bit odd. Having a monochromatic set of colors might make it more “adult-ish”. The great thing is you can paint over it in a year or two if you want a change or change your mind - so much better and less expensive than wallpaper! Well-done, everyone! I learned a lot watching this!

One of the reasons why Penn might have such a different opinion of the wall could be the way that the colors appear to him. It would be interesting to see Kim and Monica's opinions of the look if they could see the colors the same way he does. If all of the lines look like the same color as blood, for instance, that changes the feel of it a whole lot. Edit: oh! You should get Penn some Enchroma Color for the Colorblind glasses and see if his opinion of the wall changes at all.

At first glance I think Penn is right.... It looks like a horror movie set. But I noticed the moulding is the same alabaster white as the wall and the ceiling. I think if you paint those- the crown moulding and the base board. It might frame in the accent wall. And give boundaries to madness.

Wow Penn- way more people agree with you than you expected! Honestly, I think if you could see color your opinion may change. However, after reading comments, maybe it wouldn't... I like how the colors are slightly different, except the wine, which I think looks good with the rest. The entire idea of whether or not it looks good is subjective. I really like it, but I'm also very quirky and like things that stand out. Goes well with my non conformist mentality... 🤗🙂😉

I'd love to see you paint Half of a big semi-intricate Mandala either on a patio floor, or a bedroom wall. - have you seen the stickers that do that? Or Draw your own as you go- but practice some first, for sure - on paper ! ( u can even get news print & tape it to the floor and see if u would like it, first !)

The wineglass color made the color palette pop. I’m with Penn on how it just looks messy and like a kid did it. Looks like someone was too much in a hurry and didn’t want to spend the time to put painters’ tape up and keep the lines straight and even.
