Wow, doing such an intricate shape on your own head is no easy feat. I have one suggestion if you do this again or if someone else attempts this...Aim for the bottom point of the heart to be angled back slightly more and then take the remaining hair and either curl it and blend it into the style if you go for curls like Viv or wrap and pin it underneath. That is of course if you don't want the long piece left hanging, if you like that, go for it, maybe get some heart shaped beads or other valentines decorations to add. It would also be super cute if you did wrapped strands all over, sort of like locs (I cannot remember what the wrapped strands are called) you could also use string/thread wrapping techniques instead of braiding hair to make the heart and then just tie it off after wrapping the bottom. But it is so easy for me to come in and add minor suggestions after the fact.....I could never have done this and it is gorgeous Viv! 10/10 would wear for the whole 2 weeks leading up to V day!

I'm snow white but in the 80 ties we had something called colour wraps around braids, it was cheap version of having 1 coloured hair excitations, hight of fashion and only for the cool kids.. My friend melted hers into her own hair and had cut it out.

When I was in middle school girls would get something like this.. except it would be cornrows, they would crochet/wrap each braid, pin up a cute design in the back. They were the first “crochet braids” before people started crocheting hair in to cover braids

I hate to be nitpicky but as a crocheter I need to tell you that you are not crocheting. What you are doing is more reminiscent of latch hook...I say this also because you are not even using a crochet hook but a latch hook. This is a pretty style for you though.
