You'll need a lot more drainage, drill 10-15 holes, cover w/a scrap piece of screen, pea gravel, then soil🌞

Awesome idea ..... think I would paint the mat first in a contrasting color like white, gold or silver. Also would take a peak at placing straight edge along the bottom...... very inspiring

Total waste of cash. The sun will break down that cheap plastic can in one season, if you touch it during the winter it will shatter like glass... the only thing this "DIY idea" is good at is separating you from your hard earned money.

Very effective use of a dustbin. I agree with the comments it needs a larger plant at the top. You could also get rid of the dustbin lid and plant a nice Acer or rose in the bin.

I'm house-sitting for a couple that has 5 giant dogs. Last night there were New Year's Eve fireworks were going off. One of the dogs knocked over a giant ceramic umbrella stand. I shopped around to replace it, but it will be $200-$400! This is a great idea.

It could be made into a stepping stool for the kids, a storage place for the hose, the kids can have fun painting it for their own art work, spray paint it with magnetic paint for the A B C.....the ideas are endless if you think out of the box. What about putting wheels on it...and a pulling handle....

This is shocking. Thank you! I'm looking for an idea how to make more of an oval pot that can be movable because I want to plant 3 gigantic ZZ plants there and move it outside for the summer. Anyone saw something like this? Preferably it could be wooden (elastic plywood?). But I don't know where I could get a container like this. It should be about 30x80 with rounded corners so on the shorter ends the "rectangle" is a half-circle.

I would have painted the mat and bin separately so they were completely covered without any globs of paint on the edges of the mat. Paint the backside of the mat as well.
