Thank you so much! I had been told about this type of DIY and bought a Draper machine but of course the wrong one ;) I have now just bought this exact one as the previous one I was trying to use I had to fill the bath nearly half full to get it to work! I am so glad I found this tonight as was about to take the plunge and buy the Bathing Beauty you have saved me a fortune :D

If you have a dog with tangles, add a third wash, but this time add a good conditioner to the water, this will coat each hair shaft and help with gently brushing out those tangles when drying. With the addition of products like Demel'ex (not my business) www.caninedesign.co.uk/demelex-dematting.php When gently brushing, these small tangles should slide out easily. Please note that both you and your Dog Groomer should no longer put a dog though hours of de-matting, as this causes pain and discomfort, pulls on the skin making it sore, and can put the dog off being touched by people, and the grooming/brushing/combing process. Under The Animal Welfare Act 2007, in the United Kingdom, where by no one should cause any animal pain and distress, this is no longer allowed. If you find a Groomer still willing to spend hours brushing and combing a dog's knots out, then one must question if they are truly putting the welfare of the dogs first and following the five freedoms required for all animals.

Thank you for a great video. I have just bought a pump. I bought the Clarke which is very similar. I would like a shower head on mine, but having difficulty finding something that will go onto the washing machine hose. How do you find just having to squeeze the end ? I have slight arthritic fingers so I am concerned that I will find that difficult over a longer period !

***** I have the same issues which is why I went over to this system, I've since changed to a smooth garden hose, as I found the washing machine hose collected scum on the inside, not good. The garden hose being smooth, means it cleans when rinsed with vinegar mix each day. I don't recommend putting a shower head on the hose, as you would restrict the flow and this could cause the motor to over heat, plus you wouldn't get the deep cleaning action, which saves so much time and effort on your hands. Hope that helps xxx

Dogtrimsandtales I too have now changed to a soft no kink garden hose :-) I also bought a special shower head from the US that they actually use on the official Bathing Beauty. It works amazingly. But just one other question for you. I am still quite worried about electric and water . I have an RCD plug that is plugged into the socket and then the pump plugs into this. Would you say this is ok and as safe ?? I am not a grooming business , I just do my own dogs. I wouldn't ever want to go back to bathing any other way, but I do worry about the safety of my dogs .

+Rosie Ison I've been searching for a shower head like the one you mentioned, please tell us where you got yours from? and does it attach to a garden hose?

If you are a business running a commercial salon, or using this at home, this should be fitted with an RCD (Residual Current Device) at your fuse box. This then means if anything electrical fails, the RCD would kick in and prevent any risk of electrocution. Contact a certified electrician to supply and fit one, for both salon use and home use. It's well worth it, electrical equipment can be replaced Your life can't be replaced. xxx Have a look here for the explanation of how they work and what they are xxx www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/guides-and-advice/electrical-items/rcds-explained/

ladybirdscreatures hey ladybird, I would think that a regular (well, an extra fancy) hose heat that has a clip to keep the handle held down (or the water open). Would be an excellent choice for a “shower head” that would fit on the end of a hose. They have them that spray in many different shapes and pressures and are a lot nicer than your typical shower heads with many more spray options. Plus the clip that goes over the handle solves the problem of the arthritic hand. Sorry, I know it’s been two years, but just in case!

love this Jackie but how and where did you grt the kill switch to connect to the sub pump? I cab't figure that part out.
@Dogtrimsandtales10 жыл бұрын
Jane it comes already fitted to the pump. I have a loop which goes around it, which I lift and hook up when using it. To stop the pump, I simple release the loop, so the kill switch is lowered and this kills the power to the pump.

I'm in the USA... Is the RCD a circuit breaker of a Ground fault detector? Here in the states Circuit breakers will not prevent electrocution from a ground fault to a person or dog if a unit get damage to the wire. A ground fault Interrupter (GFI) will instantly kill power if there is a an electric shock in progress. If the RCD is only a Circuit breaker that kills the power if the amperage gets to high... you are not shock protected. PLEASE PLEASE check with the place you bought the RCD and determine if this is just a circuit breaker or a shock protector. The highest risk of electrocution is if a dog bites the cord. I know of a home made system here where the owner s Please share what your learn because safety is important and I am trying to learn about UK safety circuit for a project I am working on.

If the dog is shedding, will the hair clog the pump? Also is there any way this can harm the dog (is if it falls over = electricity +water) ? I think it's a fab idea and u may have talked me into it.
@Dogtrimsandtales9 жыл бұрын
Candace Allard Sorry I missed your question. If you place one of those knee high stockings over the base of the pump, this prevents hair from being sucked up into the pump. Just wipe the hair off the bottom of the pump when you have finished bathing each dog. Just as I prime the pump, at the end of bathing each dog, I do the same to remove any dirty water from the pump, by flushing it out. If you are a business running a commercial salon, this should be fitted with an RCD (Residual Current Device) This then means if anything electrical fails, the RCD would kick in and prevent any risk of electrocution. If I get an electrician to install a gfi will it be safe
@jackiegrimmett14634 жыл бұрын
Can't really answer that, as would be upto the Electrician. Here in UK all work done has to be by certified electricians, that basically guarantees their work. xx

its a water submerged pump meaning it can go under water. Whether or not it clogs the pump i wouldn't know but I think it might a little. Remember to comb your dogs hair before the bath to minimize that. Iv seen a few videos of other people doing this as well, if you have a dog this is definitely the method to go with. But follow instructions to minimize chances of a problem xD

Forgot to say on video, placing a knee high stocking over the base of the pump, prevents hair build up inside pump, which could clog it if you aren't carrying out a deep clean by striping down pump and removing bottom plate to clean. Obviously remove stocking each night and wash/clean to prevent bacteria buildup. Run pump at end of day for 10 minutes, with either vinegar or bleach to remove any bacteria/scum etc. hope that helps xxx

E Winter You don't have to brush or comb your dog before hand, Brushing and combing a dirty coat can risk catching the skin with the tines on the comb or brush, allowing bacteria to enter the pores and cause skin issues and infections. The pump will remove the hair with its action. Even with knots and tangles present, it will remove any loose hair and all the dirt, and lift those knots off the surface of the skin, allowing the clippers to run smoothly through that hair, leaving behind more length.

Dogtrimsandtales Thank you for the wonderful advice :). My dogs shed like crazy and I dont know why ;3.
@Dogtrimsandtales10 жыл бұрын
E Winter Not sure where you are, but shedding is down to two factors, climate change because there is no-longer a definition between the seasons. The other factor is commercial kibble based diets that simply are not nutritious enough for dogs and cats. They have two choices, keep their internal organs going or sacrifice their coats. It's the same for our health too sadly. xxx
