Aww on your office door hardware. (I didn't notice it's upside down lol) It's really beautiful though. Glad you painted the kitchen. Say I have a question I love your lounge outfit (grey sweats material) at the end. I'm wondering where you got that? Thanks. Can't wait to see the Christmas decorating videos. Thanks for the update on the mini kitchen reno.

The teacher in me can't help say this. You really should say something to him about the doorknob plate. As a professional, he should really appreciate it. Otherwise he is going to keep making the same mistake. As my grandma always says, "I learn from every person I meet. Everyone has something to give.". I've learned so much from you. Thank you.❤
@cyndeewenzel6439Ай бұрын
You know you have a point, I did the same thing with the maintenance guy who "fixed" my shower knobs. He didn't really do it right and so now there's no rhyme or reason to the hot and cold adjustment, but the guy is so nice I didn't want to hurt his feelings. Then I was talking to a neighbor and they said that he did the same thing to their shower. Sigh.

It does not require an electrician to change out your outlets. It just takes a screw driver after you have turned the power off and is a super easy DIY job. We change them every house we've moved into and taught our daughters how to do it in their homes.

The light switch plate idea is so cool! Though, swapping the outlet for a new one is the easiest electrical DIY you can do if you've never done electrical work. And the same concept applies to swapping out light fixtures too, so you can even replace that breakfast nook night with a flush mount fixture if you ever want light in that area.
@tinasung3814Ай бұрын
Though painting the kitchen white does look alot better and brighter, I do feel it kinda made the kitchen cabinets look dated & darker. I prob would have just embrace the vintage style including painting wall paint same antique color as the cabinets. The offwhite will still brighten up the room but not bring as much contrast as white paint.

Oh my gosh I have those exact same knobs and backplates throughout my house! It took me a solid year to purchase and replace all of the 90s brass builder grade knobs, but I bought one doorknob each month, and just finished the project a couple of months ago -- I was so excited to see you had the same combo! I did the oil rubbed bronze, but really debated getting the unlacquered brass. We used glass oval knobs on all of the bathroom doors. FWIW I think the backplate upside down looks as good as it does the other way round. I love following your new house progress -- it kind of makes me wish I was updating a new house again LOL.

The kitchen is so much better with the white paint. Now, to the elephant in the office. I would definitely switch the door knob plate. A little wood filler, sanding, paint, and you're done. It's not that noticeable, but "you" know it. The installer should have realized he was putting that on upside down. The French door adds so much character and charm to your office. Love it.

Small detail that elevates your space... When you screw in switch plate covers or door handles using a standard slot screw, orientate the screw North - South. It looks much tidier than leaving the screw slots randomly pointing in all directions.
