I have to say that I am really pleased that you decided to post this content Jordan. I know you are not happy with the fact it doesn't seem as polished as your most recent videos, but this is the exact reason why I and 200k other people subscribe to your channel. You, your dad and family make this channel what it is, not the lighting or camera angles or even the added effects/sounds. It's the fact that you guys are genuine in character. That seems to be a rare quantity nowadays. So keep up the fantastic content and the sky's the limit for you fellas!

For as much as you guys were worried about this not having the same feel and detail as your other videos, I really think you did a great job with the content you captured. It still has the Stud Pack feel and it's really cool to see a project go this quickly. It actually feels like you have a show on HGTV or something because it is a lot of progress in a small amount of time. Great job!!

11:06 When I put my new floor in years ago I pumped silicone caulk in all those voids. I also applied a fat bead of silicon so the bottom and back of the base board trim would set into the large bead to make a water tight seal for future mopping episodes.

I learn something helpful and interesting from you and son with each video, Paul. You two not only teach but entertain. I especially appreciate that you include your set-backs and frustrations that we all have. My favorite video so far is "Moved the Toilet 5 inch - it Kicked Our A$$". OMG you made me laugh out of frustration for you,. It was a true "Tim Taylor" moment. 😆 I was curious about moving a toilet. The rat stealing the rag in the sewer episode was just as funny. Who knew? Every one of your videos brings me the same fascination I had as a child watching my electrical engineer father enjoying his wood working hobby in his workshop as he taught me too. With your camera presence, humor, warmth, and tradesmen skills you two would surely make for a great cable TV program but I'm glad that I can see Stud Pack on this platform instead. Thanks for the quality videos.

As a expat in Canada it is quite a sight to see the snow backs where the plows dig the trenches. We don't get this level of snow in the UK and imagine you don't get any down in Cajun country. Although it is in your history, the "Cajun" people were immigrants from French Canada (Acadians) who settled in the Southern US.

For laminate install I always use a scrap piece as my beater block. it fits perfectly in the joint and won't damage the finished piece. combine that with a scrap of wood and you got a perfect hammering tool. And just like boxing, the "Cut" man can save or ruin you. And I love it when my wifey turns up with coffee and donuts, gives that extra boost to complete the job. Teamwork makes the dream work!

We’ve done whole houses like this with porcelain plant. The craziest cuts lol. Ones like the one at that door and with vent where you break the cut 1-2 times. Sometimes we’d mark the cut for the vent and install it before cutting it. Having some rags in the vent so we don’t get tons of water in there. Love big projects like this. Feels good man. We just did a crazy house up in the rougher part of the city for a lady that worked for a company that hired us for their floors. At some points you wonder if the job will ever end. Then when it finally does and looks good? Good feeling man. Also a little tip for the tile transition. You can use AETK schluter to hold the sliver down. That + the glue? It aint going nowhere!

As soon as the baseboard montage started I knew what was coming next: caulk! I replaced all the base and case in my house and was so happy and proud when I got all the trim work done. And then like you I switched into paint prep mode and thought about all that caulking I had to do. 😢 Great tip on the straight base vs crooked wall. 👍

As someone living in Washington I'm surprised that you're surprised that the appliances are hard wired into the wall. That's how most of the dishwashers and hood vents are attached here. Also as someone who does a decent amount of subfloor and flooring repairs, the toe-kick saw is definitely a must have!
@jimmyday95362 жыл бұрын
Yes, and here in MD I have never seen a disposal, dishwasher or hood that WASN'T hard-wired. In fact, most electric ranges are also hard-wired.

These are such great videos-- both informative and entertaining! I used to be the manager of a floorcovering warehouse and I also did most of the flooring in our house... with the exception of ceramic tile in the kitchen/half bath/laundry room (I hired one of our pros to do that!) The rest of the house was done with laminate flooring, and I sure could have used a few of your tips and tricks when I laid it! Let's just say that quarter round can hide a lot of mistakes! But it turned out looking great, and I got a lot of compliments on those floors! In the master bedroom (which butted up to the tile from the kitchen), I tried out the new (at the time) solid vinyl plank in wood patterns. So easy to lay (razor knife and a straight edge), wears like iron and looks fantastic-- just a bit more expensive!

One thing I would offer as a suggestion is to lay strips of rosin paper beneath the baseboard just prior to nailing up the base. It will make it easy to prime and paint without masking. The rosin paper will easily slip out from under the base after you're done. Love your channel guys - such positive content with real-world knowledge shared every time.

A guillotine floor cutter is the way to go on flooring like that. You can work right at the floor without getting up and running to the saw. Also no dust. Table saw or score/snap for the rip cuts. Also is that a wood based flooring? I have personally stopped using that. Any water touching it destroys it.
