Thanks for the video. I have to put up a partial wall in a bedroom that has sloping ceilings. I have a few questions if you don't mind answering: Do the studs that are attached to the sloped part of the ceiling have angled cuts on the ends so they fit snug to the studs that are vertical and attached to the wall? Similar to my previous question, are the ends of the other studs that are attached to the studs that are along the sloped part of the ceiling cut at an angle on their ends or were they left flat/straight (sorry, I'm having a hard time telling from the video)? Lastly, are the new studs that are attached to both the vertical wall and sloped wall drilled into the studs behind the previously completed drywall in that room? Did you also use construction adhesive to secure those new studs to the already completed walls as well or did you just use screws? What size screws? Thank you.
@scratchgolf8 жыл бұрын
Hey buddy. The studs dont have to have angle cuts, heck they could have 6 inch gaps. Just as long as there is enough to screw the drywall in. This is a non load bearing wall so your fine. No adhesive either. I just used 3 inch screws, thanks for watching

Great video! What is a ballpark figure for what I should budget on a project like this?
@scratchgolf9 жыл бұрын
+ThePiantanida31 it was cheap $6 a 2x4 maybe $10 for the box of screws, and the thinner lightweight drywall is like $10 a sheet at most.

Nice work. Personally I prefer standing the rock up, mostly because I find it easier to finish the joints vertically than horizontally. Looks like laying it down in this case may have given less waste. Like what you doing on your channel. Looking forward to more.

@semosurvivalist7 жыл бұрын
The Self Sufficient Life It's harder to hide up and down joints than it is side to side. If you have high lighting it can show. Less to feather out. Always stagger up and down seams also. Never go from ceiling to floor. Minimum of 36" apart is best.

You shouldn't put studs on top of drywall, it's better to cut the width of the studs and open the drywall to expose the original framing so it's wood on wood not wood on drywall.... it's what I've been told and makes perfect sense also does for more professional work

So much wrong with this. Please anyone reading this follow the following steps first mark where your bottom and top plates will be first secure your top plate then hammer 2 nails dead centre of the 2x4 on either side use a plumb Bob on the 2 ends of the top plate(s) to find the center of your bottom plate. Do not cut your bottom plate for your door until you have everything framed. Do not just butt 2 angled 1x4s the corners are the most important part to secure your dey wall. 10 dollars says his plaster cracks within a year
@scratchgolf6 жыл бұрын
well its been 4 years and no cracking, you owe me $10 :)
