the reason why the connectors aren't toyota, but instead general motors is because the matrix uses almost the exact same interior and connectors as the pontiac vibe, which pontiac is/was part of generalmotors.

If you can't find the Scosche GM035, for your Vibe/Matrix 03-04 ! You can also use the Metra 70-2003 but will also need the Metra 40GM10 Antenna adapter sold separately, unless you buy your new radio from crutchfield then they come for free !

BE CAREFUL, there are 2 tabs at the top of the bezel that have been broken off the bezel in the video. you can see one still in the top left hole in the dash! (to the RIGHT of the air duct outlet, not the top left corner!) They are kind of "L" shaped and I don't know how to get them loose with out damage because mine were broken by the previous owner. Maybe use a trim pry tool... also, Toyota & GM head units are TWO SEPARATE entities with different connectors...

the deck rear had 2 yellow RCA jacks on the back so presumably it's for NTSC composite video like a rear cam and maybe an AUX video input. the wiring hardness adapter's unused wires would probably be for subwoofer outputs - every car needs a subwoofer to feel the vibes!

I just wanted to know if my stereo/CD/Radio is in fact broken and actually needs replacing. There is still power through the unit as I can check the clock,(but that's all) . The alarm light flashes constantly flashing as if the car is shut off. How can I tell if the radio unit is in fact screwed before I start yanking it out ?

thx for the good very good video...do you have a video removing the aftermarket car alarm thx
@fun_ghoul3 жыл бұрын
I know it's been 4 years, but in case anyone else cares, the best thing you can do is _not_ buy a car with an aftermarket alarm! It's always a hack job, because it only has to work long enough to drive out of the install bay. "Removing" is basically not an option unless you have a spare wiring harness, or are _real_ handy with a soldering iron while working up under the dashboard!

@vuaeco I have a question? The Pontiac vibe and the Toyota matrix used a subwoofer, the conventional stereo only have 4 outputs, where double you connected the subwoofer?(fifth speaker) please please answer me, I will thank you greatly.
@vuaeco6 жыл бұрын
My new stereo only has 4 outputs (4 pairs of speaker wires). The adapter cable (wiring harness adapter) also has 4 pairs of speaker wires with matching colors to the stereo speaker wires. So I only installed what was available to me at the time. I didn't see the fifth pair of speaker/sub so I wasn't even aware it existed. :D

question. i bought the harness cable, but the kit came with a red cable for ignition. why you don’t have it ?
@vuaeco6 жыл бұрын
It does have a red cable. That's the 12V power on cable. That cable is only on when the ignition is on.
@mathieust-gelais43466 жыл бұрын
vuaeco yeah but where did you pass it ? mine is just sitting apart from the harness ? it goes where ?
@vuaeco6 жыл бұрын
It should be in the bundle with the rest of the cables in the harness. If you have it apart all by itself then it got loose and came apart. Did you get the same cable as mine in the video?
@vuaeco6 жыл бұрын
If you have the exact same cable as mine in the video, take a look at 9:12 and you can see the red cable right next to the yellow cable on the grey connector.
@mathieust-gelais43466 жыл бұрын
vuaeco ok i found the issue. i bought a package for GM vehicules from 98’ and up, and on some vehicule that extra red cable is not present on the default harness... you see me coming now, matrix from 03-04 do not need this cable though. So yeah no issue there man ! cheers

What mount are you using for the aftermarket stereo?
@vuaeco6 жыл бұрын
Sorry it's been a while and I can't remember exactly how I mounted it! I didn't use any aftermarket mount for it. I think I used 2 old metal brackets from the old stereo to mount it on the new stereo. I made a home made coroplast box held together by tape. The stereo only has 2 mounts (instead of 4) because it's thinner than the original stereo. Then it jst rests on top of that coroplast box.
