If you are only splitting small dry light wood, I would use a heavy rubber mallet instead of a metal hammer. Looked like you came close to hitting the axe head a few times with that hammer :)

Weld 2 3x1 pcs down from the top as u hit it will open and split better

Slow your drill down! It will bite better and the bit will last longer.

The difference is, that with this splitter you are easier to center, where you will cut the wood ! Semething like that. But yea, it's really just for smaller 'logs".. thanks for your comment!

It's not really that necessary. I mean if you already have an ace head than you may as well just finish the job and put a handle on it instead of going through thick fiasco
