DIY How to make Epoxy and Wood Ear Gauges

in this video we do something a little different.... we make an apple wood and blue metallic epoxy blank and turn it down on the lathe. we turn this awesome blank into some epoxy and wood ear plugs / gauges.
we used ‪@GoodViewWoodworks‬ ocean blue metallic pigments and @incredible solutions casting epoxy.

Hey man I know it's been 2 years since you uploaded this video, but you never addressed if this epoxy was safe to use for gauges? I know some epoxy resin can be harmful if you're wearing it for long periods of time. Was this a particular type of epoxy that's safe?

Do you have to use a special kind of epoxy for jewelry? Or can you use just any resin epoxy

I would stay away from any resin that doesn’t have uv inhibitors. You don’t want your jewelry turning yellow.

Once the epoxy is fully cured it’s inert. So there shouldn’t be any skin irritation

The flares on those things look pretty intense. It’s typically just 2 mm. I’m wondering how the customer liked them.

It got too hot. Maybe you poured it too thick or maybe the temperature is too hot
