I have a spiral to my loft almost identical to that. Mine is white. My stair tread are carpeted like yours but they pop right about. That would make it easier to paint. I wonder how gold would look?

Have you needed any touchups since painting it? If so, did you have trouble getting the touchup to blend?

I am doing the opposite. Removing white paint to return to black. Any recommendations?

Janice Rudolph hi Janice! Thank you so much for your question! Yes. To remove white paint and return to black, you will need to use the Rustoleum primer in black. You can use the oil based black primer if u want a glossy finish, or you can use a flat black primer if you do not want a glossy finish. After you prime, you can go in with the black rustoleum paint. If your product is rusted, I recommend sanding as the first step before applying primer and paint. But if it’s not rusted much, you can skip the sanding part and save a lot of energy and time 🙂 hope that helps and good luck with your project!!

Question. When sanding down old paint, will it scratch the metal and how much sanding is required. I.e All paint needs to be removed or is it just a quick sand down to removes debres. Thanks in adv

GoodAdvicesForFranco hello, thank you for your question! As long as you apply 2 coats of primer after sanding, the scratches from sanding will not be visible. There were some areas of the railing where I did not sand and honestly, it didn’t make a difference. If my staircase was really rusted, I would scrape a lot more, but since it wasn’t, the coats of primer did the trick! 🙂
