DIY How to Tie Dye a Yin Yang design

What do you do after the die is placed? How long do you let sit and rest and how do you wash? I’m new to this but really want to try this design!

Mr. Tye Dye...did you use thickener for the black lines?

Yes I did... this helps make the lines thinner

how to color the part of the circle? because the part of the circle always spreads and moves to another color?

what I do to cut down on spreading of the dye is to dye the circle and then use a clean dry rag, put it over the circle and squeeze it lightly... this will press the dye in, but also soak up the excess dye so it does not spread while batching.... I hope this helps

thank you and yeah too many times of trying to get the yinyang and using clothes pins to hold things so I decided to turn the whole tee into a yin yang and then with a little math, you have an easy way to center things up and get a even design... I has too many that were a little off when I tried to free hand the 's' shape

Can this be done with rubber bands and 4 different colors for the yin yang?

Yes it can... I used to use rubber bands for many years, I now use kite string as it is my personal preference, but Rubber bands do work great for tie-dye .... and yes, I have done the yin yang with the full rainbow on one side and black on the other... so many options... have fun exploring with your ideas and try out color schemes ... have fun and I wish you success!!

How would you tie dye a long sleeve shirt?

for long sleeve tees you can either just wrap them up with the rest of the tee..... or you can tie them up separately so you can add some sort of a design to them to blend in with the design of the tee
