Soaking cane is actually the way traditional baskets and weaves are made. My mom used to make some and I did once too! Always so much to learn from artisans.

If you're going to hang something over still live electrical wires, you should add a cover plate over the electrical box. They're like $1.50 and will make the whole thing so much more safe!

Ironic that the print is of electric lightning bolts
@catreader9733

A proper cover might even be required where you removed the light fixure, either by National Electrical Code or more local addendum. Regardless, it is a smart move for safety. What you have there now seems to fit the definition of a junction, even if it is no longer powered. A junction must be enclosed in a covered box, and it must not be drywalled over or enclosed by wall finishing. Please get the correct cover and install it or have an electrician do it. Your artwork will hide it nicely, and that is permitted.

Don’t know how much space Lottie needs when she’s inside, but maybe you could put a shelf inside the cabinet at the very top and keep any cat related items there. Like the scoop for the litter. It would be the cat central cabinet!

What a cute hack! So you asked about the wall color I would definitely leave the wall color not sure about the cabinet because it kind of blends in with the wall but if that was what the objective was that it didn’t stand out then you accomplished and it looks really really good. It still looks really really good whether that was what she wanted or not I just think the cabinet that you made that’s really cute just kind of blends in with your wall.

I love how versatile the Ivar line is. I have the shallower cabinets in my kitchen as upper cabinets, a huge shelf system in my office, I’m using one of the bookshelf units for basement storage, and I “made” a wardrobe by attaching the deeper Ivar cabinet and the chest of drawers and adding legs, which is now my pantry/tool storage. And I just cut one of the extra shelves down to size to replace a missing shelf on my bar cart. First time I’d used my circular saw! I guess what I’m saying is we stan Ivar in this house. Good job with this hack!

This is amazing! I wanted to recommend this new litter that I switched to, I swear it's amazing and the litter rarely smells bad, it's also super light weight. But since your litter is so close to where you cook, eat, hang out, I felt like I should share. It's called Pretty Litter, and again, it really masks the smell better than any other litter we have tried. Also... I do not work for this company, although I feel I should with as much as I tell my fellow cat moms and dads about it lol

The gray makes the other rooms look smaller and the green kitty box blends into the gray wall so it gets a little lost . It would shine better if the wall were white. I’m only sharing because I loved how inviting you have your home past and present alike. Don’t get me started on the office, I could make that place my home after all the hard work you all put in to make a home cozy vibe. Love the concept and the color, but I'm confused - did you soak the cane for the second panel? The first panel came out beautifully, but seems like the second ended up rippling a bit. Was that just natural variation, or did you try a different method that gave slightly different results?

all you have to do to keep a litterbox from smelling bad is scoop it everyday and change the litter completely + wash the litterbox every so often (how often depends on what kind of litter you have and how many cats). as far as like cat behavior is concerned the placement is perfect, assuming lottie also has a litterbox upstairs to use :)

Inspired by your litter cupboard (and btw, didn't DIY Dani do nearly the same hack in one of her 'Pinterest made me do it' videos?) I thrifted a used cupboard and hacked my own version. First I searched for new cat litter cupboards but, YIKES! they were too pricey. Mine was a steel and I love it! I lined the inside with peel and stick, used a flower pot in one end for the litter tools, etc., got a high sided litter box with a lower entry from Canadian Tire, and added a textured, inexpensive little mat inside the door to catch stray litter. Now my space looks beautiful and I don't get litter on my toes :) Thanks for the inspo😻

Worth considering that particle board seems to absorb a LOT of ammonia after a few months use. I made a very similar one and had to discard it because it stank even after cleaning

you should paint the inside same color so the raw bottom doesn't catch your eye when you glance at the cabinet and realize its a cat litter cabinet... you could also put a 'rug' opposite the litter box ( I once saw a mouse pad that looked just like an oriental rug would be the perfect size!!! Personally I'd also paint the vent cover up top to make it 'disappear'

You can also use an end table and cut a hole on a side 😁 a friend did that. She only opened the door to clean the area and litter box. She placed washable contact paper inside for easy clean up.

I'm glad the wall stayed painted, I think the contrast with the lighter lounge room is lovely!

I like how your litter box and wall turned out. If it were me I would of painted the vent cover the same as the wall to blend in. Just a thought. Love your channel, I am a subscriber.
