This one is going to be fun to watch! Things are looking much brighter (without the valances, shades and wallpaper).

Great job to the both of you 👍 you can clearly see the difference being made already! Depending on the budget you guys have left I'd try and change the windows. The 'colonial' trim that they got kinda looks outdated. Ofcourse being able to open them during the summer times is a great luxury (at least here it is) so I'd go with something that could slide open. If you're keeping these, I'd say keep the frames white and go with accented windowsills. Cause if you accent the frames you're going to think that the light coming in is less than what it was. At least that's my experience. Keep up the good work you both and keep the "Don't put this in the bloopers" coming 😆

Thanks for the feedback Andreas! We would love to replace all the windows too but we don't have the budget currently. I think you are right in painting the windows white for now

Funny that you mention the 2 gal buckets of Kilz is cheaper by the gallon. I found the same thing when I bought my house. I couldn't believe the price beat the 5 gal buckets. ProTips!

Removing that drywall glue looks so tedious, but it was worth it! Been there before. The old carpet as a dropcloth is genius - I was wondering why you were starting with paint, but that totally makes sense. The house looks so much brighter with the new paint and after removing the old valances! "Don't put this in the bloopers" haha

The glue removal took so long! I was really questioning whether we made the right decision to take out the wallpaper when we first started haha. But in the end, it was totally worth it. The house really is so much brighter and I can't wait to show you what the hardwood looks like! I plan to add as many bloopers as I can at the end lol

Valance-- not a long A as in paint, but with a short A as in happy. That sprayer makes the work fast. Thanks for sharing.

Ah okay - Thanks for the clarification. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Tony! Glad you like the new style 😁 The sprayer was a great investment! It takes a while to prep but it’s so worth it in the end. More videos coming soon!

Amazing work guys!! Are you thinking making the windows bigger? They look small, especially at the bedrooms. As far as I know you can do that at american houses.

Thank you! We can plan to keep the windows as-is for the time being as it's quite a large expense to replace them, but maybe in the future

Could you have used a larger scraper/trowel to remove the glue?!
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
We used a 4 inch drywall knife for most of the glue removal and occasionally the 2 inch knife for the smaller areas. We thought about using a wider one, but its difficult to apply even and consistent pressure on a blade that long. We found the 4 inch blade worked best

Paint sprayer? How difficult to use -- and more importantly, to clean?
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
Using it takes some practice, but it’s very manageable. The cleaning process is a pain but it’s still worth it when compared to painting by hand. It usually takes me about 20 minutes to clean
