Yep, that compressor is toast! Have you not thought about machining a bearing housing and use hybrid ceramic bearings but still use the compressor and turbine snails? at least with hybrid ceramics you are less likely to have bearing failures if the lub is incorrect plus you can use less lub as is used in model jet engines.

Thanks for your suggestion!! It could be a good idea for future! At the moment, my main focus is on getting the engine back together and running at peak performance with the new turbo. Some people on the forum have used ceramic bearings but got alot of problems due to the rear bearing overheating/resonance which puts me off a bit!! Hopefully the new turbo will be a pretty big upgrade - I will be much much stricter on oil pressure! The reason for the failure was the pump stalling at low PWM whilst trying to pump 10W60 at 5 deg ambient (was like treacle!!) With higher pressure/flow, the standard bronze bearings should be bulletproof. Fingers crossed anyways :)
