Yessir “ I like the idea of being removable when not needed. Design fit and finish look right on tha money. Now all you need is a big fish stronger to hang all the fish on , for the ride home!

Thank you for sharing! I’ve always wanted a truck and I’m finally getting my first one in a few days because I want to get a kayak and do more outdoors stuff. Your video just made it possible for me to make my own affordable racks - couldn’t be happier! Have a great day! 😇

This is superb. I have been carrying two 12 feet kayaks on the roof of a Honda civic. Not great. I just bought myself a trailer and this looks absolutely brilliant. Thanks for such an informative video.

Thanks for this video. I constructed a smiliar kayak rack to fit in the back of my Ford Ranger. So far it seems to work great. I have spray painted mine black. The wife didn't like the chrome idea. The pvc rod holders underneath are a nice addition. It keeps the bed of my truck free and the rods protected.

Exceptional job with your build Carl. I like the way you mounted the ratchet straps to your rack. I am making a rack on my pick up for my grandsons canoe and maybe other stuff I might want to carry in the future as well.

Man, that is AWEsome! Fantastic job and I am totally going to use that to outfit my Dodge Dakota short bed. I'm thinking about putting some of those little reusable, rubber wire ties, or tie downs, attached to the wood just forward of the rear pvc pole hangers, just as a paranoid measure to keep poles from moving around at all. This is the answer to my poor boy dreams. Thanks for sharing your creative genius.

Nice work - think it could have been a lot simpler and I'll probably do something more elegant for mine...sans rod carriers, etc. Great ideas about how to build this sort of rack for smaller trucks. I love the u-bolt solution for the two kayak option which will be important for me. I have holes down into the bed rails that I'll probably use for my ranger (cause it will provide the stability that will provide for the horizontal stability you have to build into the rack width), but otherwise, the design is awesome and I'm gonna steal it outright! I think that an option for the notched 4-by's would be to drive a nail or bolt through that notch and provide a smooth surface to ride the straps on. The only other improvement I might suggest would be another eye bolt at the center back to allow you to hook a bungi cord from the end of the kayak to ensure that the unit is always having some forward pressure. Nice work, dude - thanks a lot - I'll post my ranger-based alternatives shortly. Thanks a bunch, buddy!

This was a private lake next to the Little Piney. I fish mainly around the Rolla/St. James area. My favorite rivers around here are the Big Piney, Gasconade, Meramec, and Current. Thanks for watching!

So I just happened to come across your video, nice rack. Question is how much do you think the rack weights??
@jimhaskell54859 жыл бұрын
This is pretty nice. Looks very versatile. I don't like the wood look of it, so I might spray paint it black. Is it really heavy?

Looks great, is that something you plan to leave in all the time or take in and out when needed? Also how big of a yak do you think that would carry?

Great idea. Are you willing to share cut sizes and step by step help to make one
@MOfishyaker11 жыл бұрын
Dave, Sorry I just realized I did not answer the last part of your question of how big of a yak the truck rack will hold. It should hold about any length you want to put put on it, say to 14' or so. Width wise, it will hold 66" worth of kayaks. I put 2 Jackson Coosas on it and they fit nicely.
@MOfishyaker11 жыл бұрын
I plan on leaving it in unless I need the truck for something else. To remove it, just take off the green straps and slide it out.

Is the whole assembly bolted into the framework of the bed or just sitting on top ratchet strapped to the bed ??
@MOfishyaker5 жыл бұрын
The two green ratchet straps go around the rack and hook onto factory metal hooks in the four corners of the bed of the truck.
