@Laura Brown I use these very shades and my mother-in-law's bedroom she liked black and white that's always been her colors and so I hung black curtains or drapes and then hung those white shades and tied them up a little bit just like she's done anyway my mother-in-law's bedroom came out beautiful and she was so surprised she had been on a trip and she did not know I was doing anything and I did another bedroom too her guest bedroom and it was the real light blues and greens and she had enough in the Attic that was perfect she had a painting one of her church members had given her that she put up there just because she changed some colors but all those things were like 20 years old so I didn't get rid of anything I just moved to move them into garbage bags and put them up in the attic and brought down the picture in the very very heavy cedar chest oh my gosh I did it by myself I wouldn't do that again for anything but I was much younger and you think you're invincible when you're young! Anyway my point was yes those look good and give it a farmhouse feel I think

The open shelves create more space in the kitchen and make it look lighter. However open shelving might not work fo many, too easy to get dusty. The bench looks way better. Love the bird's cage light. Nicely done.

I think it’s one of my favourite makeovers!! Your sis’s neutral bedroom remains my fave dream room, but damn I love your ideas and appreciate the tips. I think the bird cage light looks perfect in there!! And i have had to use unconventional lighting in kitchen rentals in the past (especially galley ones with no windows and blocked off from any natural light sources and basement apartment kitchens! I think it totally gives a warm touch to these spaces and has a vintage feel!) I think the relationship you have with your dad is so sweet and positive and encouraging. Sadly my family was all violence and trauma do this video really touched my heart and made me tear up. Never take that love and support for granted love 🥺🤗🙏🏽🥰♥️ it’s truly a privilege 🙏🏽

Just Lovely Alexandra, I realised looking about my home and that of some of my friends (all old ladies/arty homemakers) that your aesthetic reaches towards that of the deep womanly homemaking where objects from the past, precious memorabilia, even humble things mixed with one's kids stuff on the fridge, and dried everlasting daisies from a picnic, and old photos, collected or self made paintings decorate the spaces. Your special skill is to make this aesthetic fresh and contemporary, and of course mostly you use new objects but still attempting the patina of a home long inhabited by several generations. Overall. Love the kitchen. It's really lovely. I could never have a kitchen like that. I really cook a lot and would go crazy keeping all the pretty things in there clean from the everyday stuff that naturally gets in the atmosphere from cooking. It’s not just Indian cooking. I live in California and love to cook Mexican. There is no way to have open shelving with a tiny little under-microwave vent and make carnitas or mole regularly. This is a show horse kitchen and I need a workhorse kitchen

Really great results. I don't follow you (have seen 1 or 2 videos) so this was my 1st bird light. I loved it, but wonder how much light it produces for a kitchen. That door is right up my ally. Open shelves don't work for me (maybe because mine are essentially 3 boxed in shelves I found on the street that aren't deep enough), but also because I just put practical unlovely things on them. I've had a small lamp in my kitchen for years. Quality of light is critical. Two "oops" things jumped out at me: the window needs to be cleaned and there seem to be a space under that bottom shelf that didn't get grouted. Would bug me to see them every day; maybe not you? Lastly, having a helpful & capable relative is a godsend! You are lucky.
