In this video, Christian Green of www.GreenForceT... offers a wealth of holster making secrets. During the DIY instruction, he shows us his personal method for designing and forming a basic 2-piece (pancake) holster for a M&P Shield. Watch Christian as he demonstrates the steps necessary to plan and construct a thermoform holster for a modern handgun. Included in this presentation are segments on material layout, forming prep, scoring-and-breaking, toaster oven material heating, press-forming, eyelet installation (including flaring), profiling, trimming and edge sanding.
This is a great video for beginners to intermediate holster makers who want to learn the basic procedures of professional thermoform holster making.
Information about mounting attachments to a holster can be found at the following video playlist:

The drill guide you are using at 13:40, where can we get that? Not the clip templets but the drill guide you are using for the eyelets. I can't find that one anywhere?

Os pinos poderiam ficar mais perto do molde. No video me parece que esta a 2,5 cm e com 1cm e ate 6mm ja é suficiente. Obrigado pelo video

Awesome job beautiful work, before final sanding 22:04 Could you cut a piece kydex a little bit bigger than your final holster, Heat it up, Place the finished sanded mold in the press, Place the heated kydex over it ,Sand it Than you would have a Final Template that you could place over your mold than trace it with a pencil Than cut it out just a hair bigger, Sand it this way you could have cut out Templates for every model and cutout specifications

Hi what would be a good eyelet press I’m in the Uk ? Thank you
@KnifeKits
@KnifeKits 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. We have several options for eyelet flaring tools. The Master Series press and dies work great for making a large quantity of holsters and sheaths. The Journeyman dies and die guide also produce great results, but are recommended for smaller productions. An Arbor Press can also be modified to fit the Journeyman dies. The link to these eyelet flaring tools can be found below. Are the eyelet holes 3/4" apart or 1" apart?
@steveandrews2234
@steveandrews2234 6 жыл бұрын
That is your choice, Paul. It depends on the attachment that you are using. You want the holes to line up with the holes in your chosen attachment.

This is great. I watched your one piece holster video first and was wondering what are the benefits of using two pieces instead of one? Also, your crafting skills look great but when you say that this is just like making pancakes, I question your culinary skills. This would be more like making a torta Cubana, which is way better. anyway.

On the Holstersmith site, I get the impression you can use a hammer instead of the press as long as you use the guide and dies? Is that right?
@steveandrews2234
@steveandrews2234 6 жыл бұрын
You can use the Journeyman dies and die guide and use a hammer. The roll on your eyelets will not be as consistent, and you will be more likely to split the eyelets with the journeyman dies and a hammer. It is also slower. That being said, there a lot of folks out there using the journeyman set up with great success. You just have to get a feel for it.
