Silent Geisha I’m a plus size myself, and found a 12 pack string bikini in my size, but barely. The selection is very limited, and one similar 12 package went to xl, but to add a larger size dropped that 12 pack down to a single one for $35. I’ve been wondering how to make my own and I recently had a pattern in my mind to try and make. Now I don’t have to do my “trial &error one” because this will work beautifully. I can make the other video of underwear, and have two separate methods for so many different materials. The string bikini’s 12 pack I recently bought were nice and the elastic lace, leg bands shrunk some to fit beautifully, and if they shrink again, I will have to replace with a wider band. They feel like I have nothing on at all.

You could model the underwear worn over a pair of black tights. Then we could see the proportions/how it wears on the body, while still being modest. I would really appreciate if you did this, because I'm chicken to try new things if I don't see them modeled.

+Farah Nadia I'm not Annika, but I have done a lot of hand sewing. I'd encourage you to try it. Your results will likely be as good as or better than what you can do with a machine. Hand sewing is fun, quiet, and portable, and a small project like this would take only a few minutes.

Love your channel you've been such an inspiration for me to get a sewing machine and start sewing again after almost two decades, so far i've only failures but i'm having such fun and i feel creative and hopeful that i'll go back to sewing most of my clothes like a used too. Heheheh, I might make a video about the sewing machines I use, but my little sewing room is so disorganised right now - fabric EVERYWHERE - and I don't think *that* would be particularly inspiring to anybody! I just made these because I needed a matching bra and undies ( I also made the bralette ) and I'm in love! They fit very well. I've never wore lace undies before but I imagine that they are supposed to leave the lower butt hanging a bit.

that's really great. Gusset needs seam allowance, everything needs stretch stitch & serging "overlocking" or it will unfortunately come undone. All my homemade underwear is much more comfy but thicker. I even made jocks with thermal for fishing & they get worn the most.

I feel like it could be done by using a pair of underwear you like, using them as a pattern and sketching a front and back piece onto paper. Then cut it out of fabric and so on... gusset piece would be the same I guess? Might as well try it on some scrap fabric! :)

nikkiatkins33 I think this is one place where you would want to use actual stitches, because there will be a lot of tension on the stitches (as it needs to stretch around your butt), so fabric glue probably wouldn't be strong enough in this case.

Hi, i loved your video! I just have a question... i tried to sew stretch lace yesterday on an overlocker, to sew two seams together and the lace ended up caught inside the overlocker. Is there a specific overlocker tension setting i need to use, or some stabilising tape?

Patricia Pahl Oooh I am not sure. There probably is a specific setting for it - but it would differ for each overlocker. Do you have a manual for yours? I probably wouldn't sew just my lace seams together using an overlocker just because that material is so delicate - I'd just use a zig zag stitch & save the serging for the more robust cotton gusset part! I used my "default" tension settings for that part and it seemed to work out fine. I think with overlockers it's very much a trial-and-error sort of thing. Try out different tensions on lace scraps until you find the right one, before putting your underwear under the machine!

Just finished mine-- and while they fit and look fabulous, I had to doodle around with the gusset a LOT. Might be because I have a larger than average bum, but I definitely had some issues. I wound up making it significantly longer, and even so, it's a little thin width-wise so it's certainly more thong-like than I was anticipating! Regardless, they look fabulous and I'm pretty excited to have made these :D
