Maybe a metal bottom would help feed slide toward feed ports?

I remember when I suggested chickens maybe 6 to start wife said let’s get 12, that was the first introduction to chicken math, I came home one day and I stopped counting at 32………😅

I like your 3-D printed ports, for rounded and/or flat surfaces! Enjoyed your presentation!

The chicken feeder ports look great for hens, but I don't think they work for roosters with big combs. I will give this chicken feeder project a try, but I will adjust a few things to fit my needs. Great project, and thank you for sharing the video!!👏👏

Cool project. Looks like an awesome system. That plywood sure had some pretty grain on it. Most recently I buy bulk, whole grains and sprout them for my chickens. This year I am experimenting with growing several of my own grains to see what works best for me. Makes it last so much longer and supposed to release a lot of nutrients for them. They look really healthy so far.

My wife and I are going to do this, however we will use our large 240 Litre sulo bin, (wheelie bin) and put 8 food holes down the bottom with a "skirt" to keep the rain away from the holes 😀. The bin holds about 200 kilos of food. Thanks for the idea!

Great project! You could mark off the slope the feed has when it stops flowing and add a second board. To get out the feed you could just use a (shop) vac with a fresh bag.

Excellent build & just love the 3D printer ports!! ... but I would add that the feeder needs a close off panel at night to keep mice/rats/birds out (birds come very early am) (on my farm every kind of rodent & wild birds made it's way to our chicken feeders & would eat most of it). We really had a tough time this past 2 yrs with vermin, wildlife, and predators so now we don't have chickens anymore. (but if we do get them again I'd order your printed feed ports).

Great feeder! If you had an external "hood" just above the feeders on the outside of the coop, the goats wouldn't be able to stick their heads in there but the chickens still could. Just an idea...

@@SSLFamilyDad I have a similar 5gal bucket design using 90deg elbows but my chickens still seem to pull a lot out and waste it on the ground. Do you have a similar experience? I have not found a design that keeps them from wasting food.

To keep the goats out you could put a bit of an awning over the feed points. It would allow the chickens access but still prevent the goats from getting their heads/faces close enough to reach the food. Just a thought.

Great project! Maybe instead of putting all the feed in at once, maybe build a small shelf, like 12" or so, on each side (inside the bin). Or the shelves could hold something that you bring back and forth to the coop. Keep up the great work! Have a good one.

If the green printed part had a small hood to cover for rain and maybe a little around the sides. It’ll be just enough space to keep the goats out. I put a small hood on my pvc elbow and my goats can’t get their snouts far enough to get to the chicken feed.

This is my favorite feeder build I have ever seen! Really appreciate your videos, your projects are always education and fun to follow along with. I setup a feeder in our coop about a month ago using a tote and PVC ports. I prefer how you have it at the edge/outside of the run so that you don't have to go in the run with the bags of feed.

Great idea. I've only got 7, going to 6 due to very mean rooster. The daily feeding and water is my project to figure so I can get away here and there.

Nice Feeder! Our's is similar with utilizing 4 inch PVC pipes as the feed chutes and trays at the bottom. We run into waste with ours though, so thinking I have a new project, buildling a feeder style the same as yours! Appreciate the video and the idea, and good to see everyone doing well and video's still coming out! Best wishes to you and your family, and looking forward to more videos!

I would be interested in feeder hoods. I was thinking of buying a 3D printer but other things keep coming up. Recently I purchased 3 of the hood kits from Atwoods and that blew half the printer budget!

My only critique is there is a lot of dead space around the feeder ports where feed will never get eaten and could start going bad ruining the entire bin of food- unless you are letting it go totally empty between fillings by pushing that unreachable food to the ports?
