A video idea for ya. Amend this design with a hydraulic leveler to level the sawhorses together for a 4 point level surface. There are plenty of applications that such would be handy. Or even purposely off level like if you needed a defined drop. Good work man. I'm gonna steal this design soon for my own stuff. 😁

What kind of hydraulic press would you use for that?
@joelmason6818
@joelmason6818 2 жыл бұрын
Built in water level. A few hoses and a good eyeball. That way the four corners can be leveled together. Trying to make some kind of auto leveler would be extremely difficult. Some integrated hosing, sight glasses, and resavour would make leveling a cinch.

years ago i built a huge jig table, out of 2x4 tubing, used c-channel and 2" heavy fire hose for air bag, the hose lays between 2, 4" c-channel with 2x1/4 flat bar tabs so they stay in line when inflated with air. for clamping the full length, an width, and the same system for clamping any steel sheeting to a frame.. same as we used at can car building rail hopper grain cars. i build all my trailer, farm gates and any frames on, it make every thing 100% square an level once you turn the air ball valve on, i welded 3 2" seamless tubing peaces down each side for drop leg that lock with a welded on 1" stainless steel nut and a 1.5" 1" stainless bolt, i cut spindle hubs off an old car so i have wheels on one end to move it around. make lay out and clamping a breeze for any size frame, it 40 feet long with a sliding tube to make any width and lock tight with air, i would have used the same air bag set up on them saw horses.. just really short one with a bigger fire hose

Love these saw horses, I need about 4 of them at times, especially since I need to build a new 28-30’ gooseneck car trailer. My old trailer has seen way better days, because it now has a bent frame again, we straightened it reinforced after we bought it at an auction 9 years ago. I noticed the tires are wearing funny. Anyway great video and I learn a lot from watching you build. Just wish I could weld instead of butchering the metal. Lol

I like them. Simple but effective. Might I suggest you pick a 'garage furniture' color and buy a gallon of implement paint from Tractor Supply? I paint all of my projects a nice shade of blue. Much cheaper to paint it all with a chip brush dipped into the gallon can than using a bunch of spray bombs.
@WaldosWorld

That's a good idea. Implement paint is generally more durable than the rattle can stuff too 😬

Another great video, Waldo! Thanks for including the Aspen outtakes at the end. I’m thinking you could build a battleship on those sawhorses. Haha. I just made a set of these for some projects I have coming up. First off: They are awesome. I set them 6’ apart and got my 72” level out, and let’s just say, in about 3 minutes the cross beams were not only level but also level with the other sawhorse and from one sawhorse corner to the far corner of the other horse. Fantastic. Second, if you make these, I have a suggestion. Weld your Grade 8 rings around your holes before you cut out the pivot slots. I cut my pivot slots first and then when welding the washers, the ends of my cross members warped upward. I know there were some questions about how long you made the top rail was. Didn’t see the answer to that question. But in your trailer video I think the ibeams were 63” on center so i think they had to be 72” top rails on the sawhorses? If you get a chance to measure we’d love to know. My lengths. 45 legs - 17” each Uprights -18” before the v cut Welded crossmember - 56” Top leveling rail - 64” Thanks again for the videos, Waldo. Cheers.
