DIY Lighted RV Flag Pole - full time rving - RVSWAT

In this video we show you how we built our lighted flag pole.

Parts Needed:
1 - 10' piece of 1" PVC pipe
1 - 1" PVC 45 degree coupler
1 - 1" PVC T coupler
2 - 1" PVC caps
1 - 4' piece of pre-cut rebar 1/2' thick
1 - Package of 1/2" X 2" fender washers
1 - Package of 1" cup hooks
1 - Solar flag pole light
Assembly Instructions:
1 - Cut 10' PVC pipe into two 4 foot sections and two 1 foot sections.
2 - Align cup hooks on one of the 4 foot PVC sections with flag grommets on flag and pre-drill small holes to screw in cup hooks easier.
3 - Place one of the fender washers onto one end of the rebar and bang rebard into the ground with the washer side down about 1 foot.
4 - Slide one of the 4 foot PVC pipes over the rebar. PVC pipe should be able to rotate freely on the washer.
5 - Place 45 degree PVC coupler onto the top of the 4 foot section that is over the rebar.
6 - Insert one of the 1 foot PVC pipes into the 45 degree coupler and place the T coupler onto the open end of the same 1 foot PVC pipe.
7 - Place the other 1 foot PVC section onto the T with it facing towards the ground and install one of the PVC caps.
8 - Place the other 4 foot PVC section with the cup hooks into the other end of the T and place the other PVC cap at the top of the 4 foot PVC pipe.
9 - Place flag gourmets onto cup hooks, and pinch cup hooks closed with pliers to prevent the flag from coming off.
10 - Install flag pole solar light.

Instead of the cup hooks, I used two eye screws and two small carabiners. More secure yet removable.

Same here! But now I'm looking to change out the carabiners for metal snap hooks for easier on and off.

You’re going to find that you’re going to need to glue some of those connections. You will end up with two pieces, the ground 4 footer with the 45 deg glued on and one piece of 1 foot pipe glued to that. The other piece will be the 4 footer, the T and the other one foot piece. After you set it up to all hang correctly and have the two pieces separately glued then mount the T so everything is hanging properly and then drill a hole through the T and get a locking pin from Amazon (of course) called a PTO Round Wire Shaft Locking Pin 1/4 x 1 3/4 (pack of 3) also get a 3/4 hole fender washer and it will slip right on without having to beat it on. You will find this keeps all those pvc connections from slipping around and you end up with only two compete sections that fit together nicely.

Cool idea. Just a recommendation. You can buy the hooks with a small spring clip that closes. That way you dont have to bend the hooks around your flag grommets. Otherwise, it's a pretty good build.

I like the light idea..and yes as another stated, instead of those little screw in hooks, use a couple of eye bolts and a couple of nylon lock nuts with a couple of small carabiners or spring locks..

Is there a reason why the back side of the flag is a 1’ piece. Could that maybe be 6” and then able to have the 4’ bottom section a little taller?
