That hot wire cutter with the thick paper looks like a much better way to cut foam. I can’t cut foam to save my life, granted I’ve been using a slightly dull box cutter. I think I might try to make one.

The hot wire cutter works really well with polystyrene XPS. I'm not sure how it works with other foams. I definitely hate cutting it with a knife. It almost always tears the foam.

Can you cast crossbow riser like Excalibur crossbow.

It's definitely possible.

lol biting more than you can chew, or pour just yet! I was wondering when I saw the thumbnail! Good luck on the larger crucible down the road to hold that much

Haha yeah, I actually measured wrong 🤣🤣. I tried to make an 8" octogon, but forgot to subtract the center than the final glue to. Still cool, but I remade it it to be 8" and I should be able to cast the new one. 👍

Haha I should make a video of just the cutting 🤣🤣

Ah, I was wondering how you spaced the flanges so well. A polygonal collar is a great solution.

Heck yeah brotha! The fins were 1/2" So I figured why not space it 1/2" as well. Just make things easier... I like easy 🤣🤣

You need to get another melting setup, running side by side 🙂

Nah just a bigger crucible and tongs 👌👌

Very nice, can't wait to see you cast this. Covid you drill maybe a few holes half way through the steel pipe around the circumference. When you pore the aluminum into the sand, the aluminum will vaporize the foam and fill into the holes in the steel pipe helping to secure the aluminum to the steel. If that makes an sense.

Could not Covid

I am working on a smaller one to do 🔥🔥 Also, I did a test video recently on the pipe. I understand what you are saying, but the aluminum shrinks and will grab the pipe. Also, I don't want to fill the pipe with aluminum. That would require even more... 🤣🤣
