James DIY’s his own Aqua Punch Bag out of secondhand marine parts for £10.
The buoy used in this clip is a Polyform A4 20” rubber buoy. The hoseline adapter came from an airbed.
According the Aqua Bag manufacturers, the more water you add, the harder the bag is, less water = softer bag.
If the bag reaches your desired hardness, but is still saggy or wrinkled, you can inflate with air to tension the rubber bag.

About to do this with a Taylor Made A4...paid full price for the buoy but still $100 cheaper than buying an Aqua bag...Thanks for the vid!

bought one of these cause they was a cheaper alternative to the overpriced aquabags, which are just bouys with a price tag, amazing piece of equipment.

Exactly the reason I did this. It was 16x more expensive to buy an aquabag!

Thanks! I’ve been so busy with life lately I haven’t had time to film anything worthwhile, although I still try and get on to keep an eye on comments! I have an ITF background myself, but also both Shotokan and Wadoryu karate and kickboxing! I have plans for more videos and budget DIY training aids, so hopefully will be able to post soon!

No problem, you took the time to comment, it’s the least I can do. I made it to 1st Dan in ITF, but I struggled in classes as I’d done karate for 11 years in Japanese at that point before switching to learning ITF in Korean! 😂

Nice job, i have purchased an A4 buoy, just waiting on my wall bracket to be made. Quick question, what nozzle did you use on the hose to fill it up? Thanks.
@martial_life
@martial_life 4 жыл бұрын
I used an adapter from an air bed air pump, it wasn’t ideal as it had 2 small holes in, but it did work. A small funnel would do just as well

@martial_life
@martial_life 4 жыл бұрын
I’ll have to measure it. The shackle on it was already on when I picked it up (the joys of second hand goods) and the chain was from my old dead heavy bag. I’ll check it out and let you know though!

I remembered to check! It’s got a 50mm D shackle on it, about 10mm thick

How do you fill it up with water? Any other ways to fill it up with out breaking it?
@martial_life
@martial_life 3 жыл бұрын
I used a nozzle designed for an airbed that fitted the hole. You can buy some specifically for hoses but I was trying to do it on a tight budget. You don’t really need to break it, only the little rubber one way valve inside the fill hole to get the nozzle in properly

I need help. I have the exact same buoy but for the life of me I cannot find a anchor shackle to fit over it, None of the Home Depot and Lowes ones are wide enough to fit over the opening. Where did you get your anchor shackle from. I really need your help
@martial_life
@martial_life 3 жыл бұрын
I got my buoy 2nd hand and it came with the shackle and chain already attached. If you haven’t filled it yet, it might be worth taking it with you to Lowes or Home Depot to see if the store assistants can find something that fits?

What is the clip called that is around the loop on the bag? And where could I get one? It looks different from the average carabiner clips I see

It’s a D ring / shackle on the bag itself. My bag came with it already attached, but you can get them on ebay/amazon/ hardware stores

Hey man, great video! When you’re throwing elbows and knees, does the rubber grab your skin any more than a regular heavy bag? I’d like to buy one, but I’ve never seen one in person and I’m trying to not get raw elbows and knees! Haha
@martial_life
@martial_life 2 жыл бұрын
Great question. This one doesn’t grab, but it’s more a type of flexible plastic than rubber. It should be fine for elbow / knee sessions

Great. How much water is in the Ball ??
@martial_life
@martial_life 3 жыл бұрын
It’s about 3/4 full. I just kept going until most of the creases were out. The more water you put in, the harder it is. If it’s too hard, you can remove some water and use an air pump to inflate it to remove the folds.
