I always feel like you're making your projects within a few hours so it's very comforting to realise this is a multi-day operation for you as well! turned out so cute btw - how special for your friend!

I regularly span projects over a couple of days hahah. Especially if I've hit a mental/creative block and want to come back and approach it with fresh perspective! :)

I recently learned how to make my own clothes from watching your videos from 3 years ago to now! Thank you. Cheers from California.

This is full circle for me because all my good pieces that I have made have been from following your videos! Also every reason you gave for not making clothes to sell I highly relate to! I like the freedom of making clothes for myself where it does not need to be extremely perfect! Love your videos!
@TheEssentialsClub9 ай бұрын
Right! It's so nice approaching it however you like knowing you get to wear it. Plus I feel like I'd fall out of love with sewing if I was just behind the machine pumping out the same garment over and over to sell. Very important to keep this as a hobby so it can continue to fill my cup :)

I love your little rant about not making clothes to sell to people! Friends of mine tell me I should sell stuff I make all the time, and I feel the same way. 1- I take forever to make something, of course I want to wear it myself! 2- nobody is going to want to pay me $800 for a simple summer dress with imperfections since I’m not a pro! 😂 Anyway, love how relaxing your videos are, and how transparent you are about your process, skipping steps etc. Before starting to sew myself, watching super polished and graceful sewing videos made sewing a little intimidating to me. You make sewing seem like an approachable hobby, and I’m sure you inspire so many people to start! 💕

Oh I LOVE hearing this. So glad you enjoy what I share :) Totally agree that the process is quite drawn out (which is lovely) but wouldn't be worthwhile trying to make money off it personally.

I'm watching from Northeastern United States. (New England) with Spring approaching and the warm weather coming up I'm working on a PJ set of shorts and a racer back tank. Just finished the shorts. Once I finish the PJ set I have plans for bike shorts and a couple Spring/Summer dresses.

Sounds dreeeeamy! We'd love to come do a Spring USA road trip one day. OMG I have bike shorts on my list to make soon too. And all those summer/spring creations are going to be so fun to bring to life. How exciting!!

Well done, it looks lovely on her. I am similar to you, I generally just self draft and make clothes for me. Following a pattern kinda takes the fun out of that and I tend to skip ahead or go off on my own tangent. When I am self drafting I usually (roughly) draft onto paper and then cut out the fabric , then if I really like something I can make another one without having to draft it again. Did I miss that you have a studio now? that's exciting, well done.
@TheEssentialsClub9 ай бұрын
Agreed! I love the free flowing creative process of self drafting and truly creating something custom and one off to your body/style. The patterns definitely came in handy for working with someone else during this project though. Excited to jump between the two approaches to help push me out of my comfort zone :)

I love these types of videos! I like to watch them while I'm sewing something myself, right now I'm working on some dresses for my friend's mom for a dance performance!! 11 in total and I'm doing all by myself 😅 a big challenge but so far I'm loving the results Also working on a dress and overall skirt that my sister wanted, so definitely I'm glued to my sewing machine 😅❤

Felt so nice to be able to just have a chat while I was creating rather than just sharing steps. Excited to share more like this! WOWWWW that sounds like a lot to get through, but you got this!! How sweet that your projects are all for others at the moment. They'll all appreciate the hard work I'm sure :)

Hey Lovely so sorry for the late response to your video but I really love your green pants just wondering if they were one of your fabulous creations or a thrift shop piece? Love your videos btw you always make it super clear and easy to understand how to explain things especially to a person like myself who is very new to sewing. Thanks so much in advance if you do get a chance to respond. xo
