I used the Armortallic Epoxy kit from ‪@armorpoxy‬, in the color 'Overcast'. Use code 'janelle1260' for 10% off until April 30.

Anyone wanting to do this: you NEED to ventilate the room with the resin and you have to wear a proper respirator. Epoxy is not meant to be inhaled and can make you seriously ill.

Fun fact: Epoxy is quite a toxic to work with. And in some contries you need a specialized course which teaches you how to handle toxic products like Epoxy. People of YT who desires to try this at home. Before working with Epoxy, look up the specific products MAL code, which indicates how toxic the product is. Which in turn can point at what safty equipment should be used :) Stay safe out there everyone

Nope, looks like dirty, stained concrete glossed over. Because it's a basement it will be about 10-15 degrees colder than it was with the carpet depending on where the house is located and, It will cost more to heat. The carpet provided insulation. Imagine when they paint the walls grey, kind of like a depressing storage container.

It is a assumption that the floor would be cold. Believe it or not there are houses being built with 4" of rigid foam underneath the poured basement floor as well as hot water tubing run through the concrete. All of which leads to warm floor systems. Even without those measures area rugs and wearing slippers in the basement will be just as comfortable.

It’s so pretty!!! I like the paint on the left (I think it’s squirrel’s tail?) because it adds a nice warmth as a contrast to the cooler toned floor. But that can also be done with furniture so go with your heart!❤❤

I have a question. Is the floor slippery when wet? You did an amazing job. I am in the middle of remodeling a garage into a shop and something like that would really look good with the butcher block work benches. I live in South Mississippi so 85%+ humidity is almost year round. I guess I could put sand in with the clear coat but that would take away from the finish maybe. Any advise?
@boboyamamoto
@boboyamamoto 5 ай бұрын
It would look gritty and uneven, that's why they sell specific floor finishes for garages that come with flakes and you sprinkle them on after (while it's still wet). Now you can do this exact to a garage but will need to put more coats of primer just to build up the thickness as well as give it a few layers of clear coat. This finish is extremely slippery when wet so either use sand/flakes to coat the floor slightly or buy rubber matts/garage rugs to help you out with not slipping. Any rocks and or dirt that you do bring in though can and will imprint the floor because it's not a completely hard surface. It's not like finished concrete where you can tint the concrete and stamp it as well. Ask the concrete guys if there is any product that suits your need the best, usually they have access to products that may not be available to us consumers or is more of a "special order" sort of thing. Epoxy is nice but its not forever and more so in garages

It turned out gorgeous! You did a wonderful job! I wonder if it would be better to sand the bubbles a bit prior to putting another clear coat on?? I think it definitely deserves a 2nd coat for sure! That's a VERY large area to work with. ESPECIALLY for your very first time!

Definitely NOT dog friendly. If you have an elderly dog or a dog that moves fast, they have an extremely high liklihood of blowing out a tendon in their leg due to the lack of traction. Once a dog does that they'll never properly recover. Careful with slippery floors and dogs.

Epoxy is supeeeerrr durable and is just about stain proof. I maintain and restore floors for a living and I RARELY get Epoxy maintainece jobs ...when I do they clean out very easily. Have a pro do the install tho, small mistakes can cause bonding issues, bubbles (like in the vid), etc.
