Love the rose petal analogy. Taught my daughter that she had “cotton candy” hair- soft and fluffy shrinks when wet, delicate, unique. She loves it to the point she feels bad for girls who can’t get an Afro.

first of all, your very beautiful and so is your hair. Secondly I have very small locks too! Around 1000 and most people don't even realise because it looks like my natural hair. Similar to yours but curlier. I did interlock most of them during my 1st retie but plan on maintaining with retwisting instead because I there's no way I can keep up with the hours of interlocking. How many locs do you have?

How is the retwisting going? With 1000 locs, does the retwisting cause breakage?
@Lauren-nr1wk
@Lauren-nr1wk 2 жыл бұрын
@@MyeMaven I just interlock now actually. The twists did actually lock really well but I found them to be too fragile which wasn't ideal as I plan on dying it in the future. I also found that they'd unravel at the roots too soon when I'd wet them and I don't really like braiding my hair before washing and swimming. It just didn't fit in with my lifestyle. The interlocking does take long but the key to it is keeping up with it regularly. You don't want any more than an inch of regrowth imo or else it'll take too long to retie each long and you'll get frustrated. Retwisting microlocs can 100% work tho. I never noticed any breakage and in all honesty I was surprised by how well it locked TBH even after washing. It produces a nicer "loc shape" imo. It has a nice soft feel and wave pattern whereas interlocks can be quite hard and still Let me know if you have any more questions

@@Lauren-nr1wk That was a very thorough response, Thank you so much! I wonder if hair texture can also determine if the lock is hard and stiff... I feel like soft hair would also produce soft locks whether they are interlocked or twisted.

@@MyeMaven I have soft hair and interlock for that reason. Interlocking makes the locs more compact and dense compared to twisting regardless of texture.

Your locs are beautiful!!! 😍 I was natural for 5 years post big chop before getting my locs in Fall 2019 so was able to start my microlocs with long hair (between 17" to 22" all over). Now, 2 1/2 years later, I was talking to my loctition, and we're going to start combing out my locs and starting again, this time much smaller. I'll use kinky synthetic hair (Marley braiding hair in various colors - 2,4,6,30, and 33 for dimension) as well to help with keeping the locs from swelling. I started my loc journey with microbraids on my natural hair and have interlocked ever since to handle new growth. We're noticing slight swelling and I no longer like the size. So we're starting over!🤣 You're so correct about not following "the rules" that everyone else follows. Once you figure out what works for you, do that! I can't wait to see more about your microloc journey 🙂 ***About the loc comb out process: I have 3C/4A hair and coconut oil and lots of detangler have been helping undo/comb out the locs. This is a project that will take months. Thankfully I work at home and usually wear an updo...so we're starting by redoing the section in the middle (crown) first. 🙃

Thank you for sharing this! I think it is so important for us to learn from each other. Noth everything I do will work for others. But being able to share our journey and what we've learned definitely can help others on their journey. Let me know how it goes!!

I also have 4C hair, prefer the same tool, and started with two-strand twists. However, since I don’t remember the last time I went to a hairdresser, but have had all the hairstyles since 7, I decided to take down and put back each loc as an interlock without disturbing my grid. Took me forever (months), but I am happy with the results. I am told I have the patience of a saint. I also prefer to retie on dry hair as a 4C natural.

Hi, new to your channel. Planning to loc this summer. I love thick traditional locs and micros. I'm all over the place lol. But I'm pretty sure I don't want to interlock either type. Stumbled on your channel while researching rull, fluffy locs. Just wanted to say hi and beautiful hair! 💙

@loveloreal

i LOVE them this small. i want them this same exact size. I have a question.. do you always straighten your ends? Is it to keep it from changing the size of the loc? I would think that the ends would be curly, but maybe that causes a problem eventually... you may have addressed this
@the4ceer806
@the4ceer806 Жыл бұрын
😁 Hi love, yes I keep my ends stretched, either with a roller set, braidout, banding, or straightening. My ends are curly when wet, and I'll wear it like that on Vacation, but that's it mostly. When I don't keep my ends stretched it leads to a lot of budding which makes retightening difficult on such tiny locs. I hope this helps!

You want to flat iron locs? Why not stay a loose natural?

I think she likes the straight look and it's easier with micro locs
@the4ceer806
@the4ceer806 2 жыл бұрын
I actually wanted my hair to mimic my loose natural hair. The locs in this structure makes my hair much easier to manage and it takes me 1/8 of the time to wash and style. I don't flat iron often, but I sometimes really like the look of my locs straight. Sometimes I like them curly. I love the variety my hair gives me now.

Do you still have to detangle? If so, is a lot easier?
@anydae
@anydae 2 жыл бұрын
No, it's locs - it really doesn't tangle
@the4ceer806
@the4ceer806 2 жыл бұрын
I make sure I run my fingers through the root every day. A few stray hairs may connect to other locs, but I have no need to detangle with a comb. My fingers do most of the work. Thank you for your question!

You hair is beautiful, with your locs being so small have you lost any locs? I would like to have locs as small as yours but I keep hearing that if the loc base is very small, there is not enough of a base to support the growing loc. What has your experience been?
@the4ceer806
@the4ceer806 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you love! What you said is spot on. You must have enough hair at the base to support the weight of the growing loc. So I was very careful when installing. I haven't lost any locs from the base. But in my first 6 months, I had one loc where at last 5 inches, it had a weak spot and slid from the loc. So kept the half of the loc that fell, and waited for the end of the loc that was connected to bud. Then I just reconnected the loc back. I also had about 3 locs that were a little too small for me, so I combined them :).
