So, how did you put it in the ground? Did you just dig a big hole and than backfill with the dirt, or add cement?

I'm tempted to build one of these but I worry it will make a nice home for wasp nest under the mailbox and I would feel sorry for the mail man.

Not being a jerk (or am I) but you skipped a LOT of steps. For instance, how did you mount it into the ground? post hole digger? expanding foam? I personally would have cut and painted everything first, then assembled with deck screws that matched or countersunk and covered. Plus, screws for the numbers and numbers on front and sides and solar lights on the back. But hey, to each his own.
