I think I way overthought the corner, but I just couldn’t decide which was the best way to do it (I had so many different ideas 🙈) sometimes it’s challenging to find a good balance between simplicity, ease of explanation, design, efficient use of materials, and appropriate strength. I appreciate you watching me work my way through this projects 😅 and I hope you have an awesome weekend! Happy building!

Solid and looks really good Ms. Shara. I now know what the difference is between a Chaise, and a sectional sofa now.. And yes I agree, marking the lumber against the piece you are fitting it for is more accurate. I almost always confuse the numbers and waste wood. Thank you for sharing Ms. Shara

All righty then, the "sectional sectional" (totally legit phrase) installment! I really like the whole mix-and-match concept of this set. Not gonna lie, I was right there with you at 2:39 ... that's my "what have I gotten myself into" face as well. I love the "what the heck, let's see what happens" approach... and look how well it turned out! Sometimes you just have to hold pieces up there (often utilizing the ol' cheek clamp 5:19 ) and see what it looks like. Of course, one could CAD it, but where's the fun in that?😂. The whole set has a great vibe, but that corner piece is visually stunning and it's kind of a shame that it gets stuck in the, well, corner 🤷♂and gets covered up with cushions. If you continue to struggle with where to put this other than the middle of your yard, you can just box it up and send it to me! 😊 Great series; looking forward to where you take us next!

Quick question. I bought some plywood that I cut down into 1×2 pcs. Changed my mind and now have 100 of them. Any ideas on a project? Haha
@WoodshopDiaries6 ай бұрын
That’s a tough one! Not sure if any of these ideas are something you’d be interested in, but I like to use thin pieces like that sometimes for decorative trim-sides of cabinets, accent walls, face frames, even some geometric wall art or mosaic designs. You could glue them together to make 2x2s, too.

If you don’t mind me asking, where do you get your lumber from? Is a local lumber yard or is it just from Home Depot?
@WoodshopDiaries3 ай бұрын
I get it from the big box stores. I don’t have local lumber yards around here except for building suppliers-which sell the same stuff as the big box stores (just pine), just with much less convenient store hours.

Is there a reason to use untreated cedar? I don't get why the untreated is $25 vs $8 for the treated cedar.
@WoodshopDiaries6 ай бұрын
Are you referring to treated PINE vs regular cedar? That’s what it sounds like based on the pricing you mention. If so, I discuss the difference between those and pros and cons of each in this post under the heading labeled “what kind of wood should you build an outdoor sofa with”: www.woodshopdiaries.com/diy-modular-outdoor-sectional/
@dominicscardino23046 ай бұрын
@@WoodshopDiaries you're right that there is just a "rough green western cedar" that is $25 and the one I initally looked at was a pine that is "cedar toned" but there is also a a "premium S4S cedar dimensional" that is $8 so I guess I still am confused. Is S4S a lower grade wood?
@WoodshopDiaries6 ай бұрын
@dominicscardino2304 S4S is surfaced on all four sides. So where rough sawn lumber is rough, this is smooth. It’s usually more expensive than rough sawn lumber, but I’ve noticed it’s actually cheaper in my area with cedar lumber as well. That’s not the case for any other lumber I’ve seen, but for some reason, it is for cedar. S4S cedar would work great for this. That’s what I used.
