was that deck made with 3/4 ply?
@AnglingAnarchy4 жыл бұрын
death pandemic We used 5/8" marine grade plywood. It seems to be pretty standard for most boat decking.

Anyone who reads my comment reply back if you would like to see how I store baits. I went to Walmart bought a big metal shelf that holds like 1200 pounds. I went to Lowes bought bunch of plywood you're gonna paint it anyway who doesn't need to be the best, you then buy some nuts bolts washers and lock washers the better looking ones like brass if you can find them little more pricy but hey we're musky fishing with thousands worth of lures and gear what's 200-300 for a nice looking storage option. Buy some drawer slides that will fit the dimensions of the shelf you bought. Cut boards for the bottom of the shelf so you can mount the drawer slides and led lights onto it. Once the drawer slides are mounted you then add in screw in hooks. I personally have 40 baits hanging on one shelf tier so I have 160 baits in total on one shelf. Not one hook touches another bait not one bait clanks because it's spaced out properly. I have multiple colors and sizes of Medusa's for example I have the shallow mini. Mid and so on. I have 4 styles of Medusa's and variety of colors for each about 40 Medusas in total I have them all nice and nearly organized inside a shelf with sliding drawers so when I want the color all the way at the back I pull the drawer slide out grab the one at the back and don't fight to get what I need. It's a super clean set up. You can build them out of wood entirely if you want to but I like the fact I can easily dismantle my entire stand and make it fit in a trunk (I don't own a house yet so will 100% move in the future) this is a home sotrage method.

I was thinking of grinding off the supports in the lid enabling me to cut longer strips of the downspouts...thoughts? And it should be just as strong since the spouts will still butt up against the lid. Question: why did u have the two boxes configured differently? Seems like u were abke to fit more in the second one?
@AnglingAnarchy5 жыл бұрын
D Jackman grinding off the supports in the lid should be ok as long as the downspouts become the support system for the box. In the 2nd box I used some 2x3 pieces as opposed to the 2x2 for larger baits like Husky Medussas.
@mikewurst74833 жыл бұрын
What type of glue do you use to keep the down spouts together?? Any hints on keeping the spouts even and level with each other as the adhesive sets / cures would be appreciated. Great video!!
@AnglingAnarchy3 жыл бұрын
Mike Wurst I didn't end up using any adhesives for the spouts. The ones in the boat storage fit the space they were in perfectly so just the tight fit is what keeps them up. The spouts in the Plano boxes are held together towards the top by drilling two small holes and are zip tied to each other. Hope that helps!

Cool ideas, I have a live well that I don't use, that's going to change.
@illmuskyhunter33135 жыл бұрын
Brian could you measure the down spouts so we know the exact measurements
@AnglingAnarchy5 жыл бұрын
ILL Musky Hunter The down spouts in the Plano box are 11.5" tall (11.25" on the outer edge due to the taper of the lid). In the back deck of the boat they are 10.75" tall.

Great ideas. How did you cut the down spouts?
@AnglingAnarchy3 жыл бұрын
Thomas O'Brien I just used a power miter saw. I was using a larger tooth wood blade which isn't ideal but if you go slow it works fine. If you go through the material too fast it may chip the edges.

Did you make every part of the additional storage compartments or where did you get the components? (Latches, inside dividers, etc)
@AnglingAnarchy5 жыл бұрын
IowaFishing44 The latches are Perko brand latches. The piano hinge I bought on Amazon and had to have a buddy that works in a metal shop bend them for me. The carpeted lids and the vinyl dividers and front I made from marine grade plywood and then carpeted/vinyled them with material I had left over from redoing the boat interior. Everything was held in place with angled aluminum pieces and stainless steel screws and bolts/nylock nuts.

I know this is a old video but I do alot of fishing on the river in waders, do you think it isbworthbdoing this in a backpack with enough downspout. For maybe 10 lures or and I better just using the planos in the backpack?

James Koehler It's definitely worth a shot! Even if it doesn't end up working, you're only out the cost of a piece of plastic downspout. I'd give it a shot!
