Not a bad system , I currently run a 3 step movable aider and like it but love to see everyone’s ideas. Thanks for sharing.

Great idea. One suggestion is to use an adjustable suspension trauma strap from a full body harness, (that’s not permanently attached) to find the length that works best for you.

So simple and elegant. Kudos.

I’ve been wanting to make a video on my DIY aider system too. I get 8’ with each stick. Two sticks for 16’ and a foot or two to my platform. I rarely hunt trees that let me get higher than that.

You should make a vid I would like to see that

Note to readers. You need sticks with full steps (both feet at the same level).

Very good point

This is awesome. Do you worry about the possibility of twisting your ankle if you slip?

Love the simplicity of the system. What knots did you use on the tubing? Thanks much!
@steelvalleysportsmen77374 жыл бұрын
I am terrible with knot names, I know about 5 that I make work for everything lol. I have always called it an overhand knot.

Great idea!!! I only see one draw back to this design, and that's the foot hold squeezing the hell out of your foot once you put all your weight on it. Probably not a big deal if you wear hiking boots when you use this. But..... I cross lots of water, so I wear lightweight rubber boots a lot, and I imagine that would put a good squeeze on your foot with rubber boots on. Other than that concern, I like the idea.

I wear light weight rubber boots at times too, and there is a bit more squeeze but it is not unbearable. If you made it from a thinner material though that could be a very big problem

Best idea I've seen yet

Is your bottom step on the stick a double? I'm seeing with my 2 step sticks (mod LW) that a one-step CAYG aider doesn't work without a dbl or 3 steps.. or am I missing something?

What's the approximate overall length of your strap?
@steelvalleysportsmen77373 жыл бұрын
Its about 36 inches. When wrapped around my foot I want it to stretch out to just bellow my hips
@steelvalleysportsmen77373 жыл бұрын
You can mak it long, tie knots will you get the height right, and make your final one at that length

What knots are you using to make that aider?
@steelvalleysportsmen77375 жыл бұрын
I personally used simple overhand knots and have never had an issue. However, there are a lot of great knots that are much stronger.
@narwhalsintheocean97454 жыл бұрын
You might be able to make this system even easier to use with a load bearing carabineer that could clip to a loop on the aider so you just have to clip and unclip if trying to loop it over the stick is too hard
@steelvalleysportsmen77374 жыл бұрын
My concern with that is the opportunity for noise from the metal. You would have to sound proof it well.
