I’ve been trying to decide on a material to reinforce the steps of mine and hadn’t thought about a hose. Excellent job, and I plan on following this.

A 17” step with a rope step aider when body weight is placed in the steps will probably stretch the spacing probable close to 19” spacing. I seen that made a big difference when it’s cold and have on extra clothes.

I learned the same thing after using this aider system for one year. It stretched a lot and definitely made it more difficult to step up, especially in winter clothing like you said. I have since adapted my aider system and posted a new video that may help you out "Tethrd One Sticks An Aider System that Really Works". Check it out and let me know what you think. Curt

I made one exactly like you did and I was able to use less than 17’ of rope.

Saves $ and I am confident in the safety of what I built. What sticks do you use?

@@whitetailsdeerhunting7159 I use cheap steel sticks. I leave them on the tree. I use the 3 step aider to keep others from hunting my stands. I hunt public land in AZ

@@whitetailsdeerhunting7159 also, I saw comments on the strength of the rope you used. I used the same rope you did. Do you feel it’s safe? I’m currently looking at 1/4” para cord now.

@@glend4704 Nice. I use my 3 Tethrd One Sticks. All total, sticks and aiders are less than 4 pounds. I also have some old 30” XOP sticks and 4 Big Game Hang Ons. I leave these in my tree in my 4 most likely places I will sit this fall. All I need to do is come in with my 3 sticks to get up to the XOP stick and hang on.

Where do you live/hunt? I’m originally from PA and I miss hunting deer back there. Although I do like hunting mulies from the ground here in AZ. I also use tree stands as well, but the mulies aren’t as patternqble like whitetails

I like my aider on my first stick but I am not comfortable putting aiders between sticks. Does anyone have a safe way they use aiders between sticks?

I'd be careful with 500lb rope... every knot you tie reduces the strength and integrity of the rope.

Not to mention that the working load is only 60 lbs. YIKES! I wouldn't use that rope for an aider.

@@jocohobo1949 I built aiders just like he did on the video, with the same rope. Then I took them apart and rebuilt them with a 5/16” para cord that’s rated to 3,200 lbs. it cost me $27 for 50’ of it and that was enough to build three 3 step aiders. Better safe than sorry!! Glad you put your comment on here or I wouldn’t have known not to use the same rope as in the video.
