Howdy! I built some Outdoor Privacy Screens for a client with a chevron pattern and in this video I show you how you can do it too! I used pressure treated wood, cedar fence pickets, galvanized hardware and exterior stain to ensure a long life! #privacyscreen #diy #landscapedecor

The first half of the kzbin.infoUgkx3ICSK6nSknaL_45CU2NmFSoXjarGMDiJ book is everything about wood: types, tools, finishes, setting up shop etc. The second half is all about doing projects for inside and outside of the home. The color pictures are helpful. After reading a dozen of these types of books, this is probably the best overall (layout, color photos, plans). Only detraction is that many of the projects use a table saw/router/planer, which are usually expensive and take up space, so the plans are less friendly to newcomers and the budget conscious. But I know I can use a drill, circular saw or a jigsaw to make the projects.

Great job. Was wondering if you had any DIY ideas for a pool enclosure thats already screened in, but still visible to the neighbors. There is only a 5 ft white ugly PVC fence bordering the outside of the enclosure and I'd like to gain more privacy above that sight line.

@@TheAwesomeOrange I already started and it's coming out really good. Horizontal slats, starting 4 ft off the ground. 4 in wide, 1 inch thick to the width of 3 feet which gives a floating privacy screen on my side. On their side 2 ft of the screen is visible which is perfect from their angle without being ugly to their view. Stained the same ebony brown color as the aluminum screen frame. I have part of it done but it looks good so far. I will post a video for your critique.

Ok. Here is a quick video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4e9oHyDn86eh7M It's a few spliced into one so i dubbed over the voice with some music. You can see how close each house is to the other and it's a problem with privacy. It's partially done because it takes so much time to personally select each board. Waiting for Home depot to restock their 4x1 pressure treated.

I was going to say something similar - why not just have them be wider? The backyard definitely had the space. If you're charging a customer, that's one thing, but for yourself, I would be more economical with the product.

Do you need a permit to build a privacy screen? My fence (6 feet) is not tall enough so been wanting to make some privacy screen but now sure if it’s allowed if you already have 6 feet tall fences.

Great question.... every city is different so I’d check with them. But if it is on your side of the fence I personally think you should be good as long as it is crazy high. 🍊

Dear Orange Machine, How critical are the center cross supports? And, I've watched some others but at 30°. At 30°, I'm looking at a total span of 10 feet. Too much?
@TheAwesomeOrange

The center supports are critical and they give you something to mail the slats to. Not sure on the 30 degree thing. Happy building! 🍊
