It works by siphon. There is an inner hose that allows the shipon effect to occur once the water level hits a certain level

The top sect is smalle and goes to the bottom of each side correct?

Will the siphon continue after the pump comes back on and what is the point of having two breaching connections?

Double the water flow. Yes one watrer is returned via drip from pump the siphon will continue to operate

So wait in a system like this if the water starts to go above the rim of the container itll just flow up the pipe and over the side without splling over the rim of the container??? Is it really that simple?? Am I really just overthinking this that much? It seems like the physics wouldnt work. So could I just connect some pipes into the shape of a U and flip it upside down and hang it on the rim of my tank???

There is more to the siphon inside you cannot see. As long as the water does not fall below the inlet tubes. The siphon will restart .
