Join us as we build a DIY skottle and grill a "manwich" (very tasty for both men & wo-men 😜). A versatile scottle built for a fraction of the price to name-brand options. It makes good food in the forest & tailgating alike.
PRODUCT LINKS:
Cast Iron Griddle: amzn.to/3DDPJl8 (price has gone up significantly)
Propane Burner: amzn.to/2TU7Rlq
Stainless Lid: amzn.to/2zKDpDA
Skottle Bag: amzn.to/2ZSclNa
The rest of the little parts were purchased at Lowe's.
Manwich "Recipe":
1/3lb burger patty w/ McCormick burger seasoning
1 bratwurst sausage
3 strips of thick-cut bacon
Pepper & onion
1 egg
Cheddar cheese slices
Masterpiece BBQ sauce
All between an oversize bun
Best eaten with an empty stomach and heartburn tablets 😆

Follow up. Your my inspiration. So far my stand has cost $1680. Had to buy a plasma cutter to make it. Guess I'll have to find some other things to make with it now.

Lol! That’s an expensive Scottie!! Yes I’ve been there but after having bought my welder and plasma I’ve made front & rear bumpers, sliders, off road trailer mods, scottle... the equipment has paid for itself. Enjoy! Sorry for the late reply, KZbin stopped notifying me of comments.

nice job on that diy skottle. I opted for the two burner blackstone with the stand that comes with it. I got it for a really great price. I think about $176 with the stand and all at Walmart. But this looks like a very doable option. New subscriber here. Just getting started into overlanding. Been wanting to do it for quite a long time. Just taking me a while to get my vehicle and things together. Looking forward to more of your videos.

Best diy video yet. What is the size of the metal circle you cut?

How thick is your metal that you used? I have some 1/8 in laying around and wonder if it will be thick enough.
@NarrowRoadAdventures
@NarrowRoadAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
I can’t recall if it was 1/8 or 3/16. You don’t want it to be heavier than necessary but don’t want it to fold under its weight either.

I will never understand the “overpriced gear” factor of overlanding. Love the DIY versions for a fraction of the price. Lol sidenote: try not to wear hoodies with strings when using a grinder. It’ll pull the grinder right up to your neck😬

The $400 for a regular skottle is a little hard to swallow. But not many people have all these tools to manufacture their own. Maybe you can start selling your own version.

Not a cheap alternative. Might be better off with the one for sale.
@NarrowRoadAdventures
@NarrowRoadAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
“Cheap” is all a relative opinion. I’m not a fan of cheap but for things that are a good value. I’d say 1/3 the price of brand name ones is a fair alternative for many.

@NarrowRoadAdventures
@NarrowRoadAdventures 3 жыл бұрын
You might be best off just buying a cheaper welder from Harbor Freight if you think you might have other projects you might want to make. And it will take time to learn make good usable welds. Not something you do overnight. Otherwise, you might be money ahead just to buy a scottle. Best to you in any way you decide! Thanks for watching.

Anyone that is paying $350 for scottle is just stupid. I bought a Southwest Disk Discada, that is made in the USA by a Veteran owned company, for $130 and it's AMAZING quality. Making my own would have cost slightly less, but it would not have turned out anywhere near the same quailty.....and this homemade one is vastly less in quality. You get what you pay for here folks.
@NarrowRoadAdventures
@NarrowRoadAdventures 2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like you found a great deal. I am not familiar with those, I will have to check them out. This one I made has gotten a lot of use and have no complaints. However if I could have found a good alternative for $130 and save those hours of labor I would have went that route in a heartbeat. Enjoy!

@@robsonomasold Just the disc. I got the burner for a great deal as well. I simply shopped and shopped and compared everyone's product. Ended up with an amazing disc and what I think is the best burner for these for the price. My burner was under $100.
