Thanks Patrick for sharing part of your home with us. I feel like the considerate thing would be to do same. But that’s kind of hard. You know me the observant! I saw your safety squints in this video, don’t worry, I was having a laugh. Seriously I enjoyed the video, the scenery was not the same, but it made for a change and that was great as well. See you next Friday!

Watched this Saturday eve. Nice transition to your city house and project, on par with The Moose for descriptive content. Then at 26:26... that was bazaar, like wtf? but fun. And to see Tucker was cool, as today, working on shop equipment up at the garage where the carport is, I heard meowing when I walked outside. Huh? I looked around and called out, it would answer me. That went back and forth almost a dozen times till I found the cat up in the rafters. Friendly cat, seemed to know what I said as it waited for me to go down to the house to get some cat treats, I set them on a concrete block, cat jumped up and gobbled them down. I went back up to the garage a couple of times later, the last to put a bowl of food on the concrete blocks. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Very impressive work Patrick. New construction is fairly easy for most skilled and DIYers but working on renovating/repairing old work is the true sign of a master craftsman. Nice work, I miss the views of RMR but this was a very entertaining project to witness. See you next week! PS: please wear those safety glasses!!

When I first turned this on I thought I'd see Monty Python excerpts from "And Now For Something Completely Different"! Nice change, but I miss the country scene. Beautiful pest controllers you have there, nice and fluffy. And yes your backyard is adorable. When the weather permits, my wife and I enjoy the heck out of our back yard area. We set around and admire all the work that we've done to it over the years. We thank God that we did it all back when we were physically able. Patrick, it seems as though I start watching your video and then all of a sudden it's over. You have mastered the art of the cliff-hanger syndrome. Looking forward to seeing the finished project. See you next week. Oh, by-the-way your house was build the same year I was born. So...not so old.

Patrick, it's always nice to watch you making things, but you were right, the beauty of the Red Moose Ranch, the wildlife and when you gaze into the distance, the distance just keeps on going, that's not comparable with doing stuff around your house, which looks a lovely place, it just doesn't have the awesome views, or the wonderful wildlife. But you are great at narrating and videoing what you are doing, very entertaining and much better than i would be.

Having lived for several years in the soggy NW I have a great appreciation for salmon fishing on the inland rivers, not owning an umbrella despite so many rainy days, tanning for light therapy (this was back when tanning was cool) 🙂 working outside no matter what the weather is. Have long since been a drier climate, still don't own an umbrella but, have gotten soft on working outside when it's not raining. Look forward to seeing the rest of your project Patrick. As long as I've been watching this channel, I somehow missed that Red Moose Ranch was in Washington state. Anyway, belated greetings from a fellow Washingtonian. I'm north of Mount Vernon on six acres, where the winds come down off the mountains to the east, channeled through Skagit Valley, not infrequently in excess of 70 mph.

Maybe it's the mech logo, but I was convinced Moosettes' home base was in Montana. Now you say you're an in-state 'commuter'. So much for that vicarious feeling. BTW, I've been using the Jefferson Nail Extractor tool [HL1121] for many years; the cheap imitators don't compare.

I've got this idea for a corral seat. Built right into the fence and part of the fence. More like a lounger really. So horses can put there head in your lap. Very useful if you've got those kinds of horses. Some people call them spoiled, but if they do high level horse things when you're riding and otherwise working them, are they really "spoiled"? Pampered maybe, but by no means spoiled.

I once surveyed a house in Kinghorn, Scotland built in the 1800s and talk about not square, this had nothing that was right, as it had been built from driftwood mainly. One room you walked into, when you got to the other corner you were stooping, the floor raised and the ceiling lowered. The main beam in the roof was a log found on the beach that was bowed, so the roof bowed too. Rooms did not match up, so you were forever going up or down a stair on the same level. Outside it looked ok, except for the bow in the roof, but inside it was a curiosity.

So...buddy boy...what's those neighbors think about your woodworking noises...My son was joking with me the other day ,,and said he was gonna put me in an old folks home. I ask him would they let me bring my wood and saws and hammers and nails and screws......he laughed , and said, " I guess you better stay here"..I said, "You damn right I will, long as the Lord will let me." I brought one of my landscape timbers in the house and laid it on the kitchen floor so it could dry a lil where it had rained on it..I want to put it on my table saw and slice it in half for something. lov to ya and wife from down here in South Alabama. 15:42 Decks are repair contractor insurance. Almost no decks are installed correctly. Too close to the house, jam tight to the house, hung incorrectly. I've only seen one installed correctly in my entire life, the one I built...
@Maxid12 ай бұрын
A house I had in San Francisco had poured concrete footings that the plinths were in no way square to each other or to any planet or star in our solar system. Built in 1955. Not one 45* angle in the entire house. One of the hardwood floors I had to pull up to replace the sill plate and some of the subflooring had an ellipse piece of flooring at a 1/4 in the middle down to slivers on both ends to correct the flooring. It had to be almost 5 or 6 feet long. I fixed it a different way and to tell you the truth, I didn't see the point of that piece after I started putting the floor back down. They might have had a bad piece of flooring and no extra. I had plenty of period and color correct salvaged oak flooring to keep the lathes nice and long. The corners were out almost 2 inches. I got the sill to square the flooring but still, that ellipse piece still didn't make sense.
@Johnny_Yuma2 ай бұрын
I'll share a little trick with you if you'd like...to type a degree mark hold down the alt key and punch in the numbers 2-4-8 and then release the alt key. (45° angle or 105° F). Not known by most people.
