Your video is absolutely EXACTLY what I needed to see. I want PURPLE curtains with room darkening and my options for store-bought either are teen designs or heavy velvet which would collect so much dust. Now, I can go to my favorite fabric stores and find the fabric of my dreams, for my curtains!!!! Thank you for making this project start to come together for me.

I just made curtains using this video and may I make a couple of suggestions for its next iteration? It would help to mention accounting for a pattern, luckily I caught this in time, but it meant forfeiting the nice 8" bottom hem I had cut for, instead, I had to use that extra fabric to line up my bold pattern across the top of all of my panels, otherwise, they would have been mismatched and would have looked poorly made. Also, be sure to test where your hooks are going to attach to the curtain rod, this video does not show that. I wanted my panels to cover the rod and in order to do that, I had to add an extra 3" of height (so another 6" of fabric considering the fold), this brought my panels up even more. I had measured them to land just above the floor, instead, they are 2" above. I am still very happy with my beautiful curtains. Oh one last thing, to those making the curtains - if you "train" your curtains to hold the pleat they will look even better (otherwise they droop at the edges even with sturdy outdoor fabric), to train them you can either tack them by hand or steam, press and let them set at least overnight with clips. THANK YOU for this easy to follow video, it's much better than others I have found online.

Hello and thank you for this excellent tutorial. I lined mine as well and am ready for the last step before hanging them-tacking the pleats. The drape fabric itself is heavy. Add in the lining fabric - well, I can already feel my fingers hurting from pushing the needle through the pleats. I know it is an optional stepbut Ireally want to do this. Doyou have any suggestions for the type of needle I should use to dfficiently pass through the bulky layers? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks a bunch.

love this instruction, is this a triple pinch pleat? I would like a single pinch pleat, can I still do that with the same tape & hook?
@onlinefabricstore2 жыл бұрын
I think it would work to use just the middle two tongs of the hooks to create a single pleat. I am also going to link our inverted box pleat tutorial which creates single pleats before flattening them. Just fold them in the opposite direction so the pleat is on the front instead of the back. Here is that tutorial - kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4W9oo2gj7p6gKs Best of luck with your curtains!

I have been searching for similar pleater hooks with a higher hook. I want to attach it to the bottom of the rings. The position of this hook would interfere with the ring. Does anyone know where to find approximately 3.75-length pleater hooks with the hook at the top? Thank you.
@naginad657 жыл бұрын
Hi, I wanted to know if the hooks all have the end bracket. I have checked online in your store and was very confused about which ones to buy. Thank you for the helpful video.
@onlinefabricstore7 жыл бұрын
A pack of the traverse pleater hooks comes with 10 of the hooks seen in the video. It also includes 4 end hooks, which we did not use. If you start the pleats further in from the edges, the end hooks go into the pocket near the edge so the ends of the header can be attached to curtain rings or traverse rods. The photo of the hooks shows one end pin and one pleater hook. The traverse pleater hooks are available in 3" and 3.25" lengths: www.onlinefabricstore.net/3-inch-traverse-pleater-hooks-4-ends-10-pack-.htm www.onlinefabricstore.net/3-1-4-inch-traverse-pleater-hooks-4-ends-10-pack-.htm I hope that answers your question!

Thanks for the great video. I want to be able to make curtain panels with Parisian pleats, as I am going to hang them from a track that is installed on the ceiling. How can I adapt this tutorial video for that purpose? Is there a different tape I need for that? Parisian pleats are tacked at the very top of the curtain panel so that the pleats begin at the very top...as opposed to French pleats which are tacked @ 3-4 inches from the top of the curtain panel. Thanks, in advance for any assistance.
@onlinefabricstore5 жыл бұрын
We haven't tried this but I believe it would work to use the tape and the pleater hooks upside down. The hooks would then be facing the wrong direction but you could add pin-on drapery hooks like you would use for hand formed pleats: www.onlinefabricstore.net/1-1-2-inch-pin-on-drapery-hooks-14-pack-.htm Good luck and let us know if you try this and it works!

You could try!! use something pretty heavy duty and make sure you allow it plenty of time to cure before hanging your curtain. Also I would recommend using a lighter weight material.

@onlinefabricstore3 жыл бұрын
They are a little different! Both add structure to the header of your drapes but buckram is simply a strip of fabric and pleater tape has little pockets every couple of inches so you can insert hooks.
