I made something very similar. I used beeswax, BTMS-50, hemp seed oil, cocoa butter, castor jelly and bentonite clay. The clay helps keep it matte. Just melt all ingredients and in the end add the clay and keep stirring. Stir until thicken and scoop into your container. Do not use a aluminum or metal container because it will deactivate the clay. Also it's best to use a thermometer and never let it go above 180 degrees. At around 90 degrees add the essential oils or fragrance oils.

Hey brother! I watch a bunch of different pomade reviewers, and I happened to find your channel today. I LOVE that you released this video because all the other DIY pomade videos aren't good in my opinion. I was extremely surprised that you are barely at 2k subs because I can tell from the 5 videos I've watched that you have high-quality content. The production and editing of your videos reminds me of Gary G from WesternGent because the two of you mix in awesome music with an engaging personality. I wish you the best, and I can safely say that you're already ahead of the many other reviewers I watch in terms of quality. Lastly, that would be AWESOME if you could do a tutorial on how to do unorthodox pomades because I can't find anything on how to make them online.

hi, I am thinking about making pomade for my boyfriend. I saw ingredients with shea butter, beeswax and jojoba oil. But I think they might not give a creamy texture I want. But your recipe looks perfect and creamy. Is it because you used petroleum gel? Can you tell me what other recipes you have tried out but not as good as this one? Thanx!
@MMTV8 жыл бұрын
Brewing is something you really have to experiment with. I am by no means anywhere near someone that could really educate you on how to make a bunch of different products as I am still learning myself. This was something I wanted to do because it's a basic 3 ingredient oil based product. But I can tell you that it's creamy because of the ration between wax to petroleum to oil. You have to be careful and experiment with your own ratios because too much wax makes it too hard, too much petroleum and oil makes it too greasy or too oily so you really just have to write down your recipe try it out, then see what you like and don't like and then keep adjusting from there until you make something you like.

@TheKain2025 жыл бұрын
that's the point, you're not supposed to wash out a wax based pomade, quite the opposite - you're supposed to build it up in you hair, and after you build it up, merely replace the bit that got washed off whenever you style your hair in the morning. Classic pomade is a requires you to commit to a certain style for a while. Stick to water soluble stuff if that bothers you.

How could I make the pomade easier to get out of the container? Is there an ingredient that I could add to soften it up? I would like to make it as easy to take out of the tin as a store bought pomade is.
@MMTV8 жыл бұрын
this is all about trial and error. The pomade from the stores probably has more ingredients than just the 3 I used here. If you want to make it easier to scoop out you have to try and change things like add less wax or less petroleum or add more oils. Just experiment. Ask any of the major brewers out there they had to make a ton of batches before they found ones they liked.

"The only petrolatum that home brewers have access to is white USP petrolatum which is pharmaceutical grade and even food grade believe it or not. It's one of the best ingredients that you can use if you want to lock moisture into your hair". This was taken from a post I made in the Everything Pomade community regarding the opinions shared here on the use of petro.

@MMTV8 жыл бұрын
Yes oil base pomade naturally is stuff but what you should be shooting for is still being able to scoop it out ( even if it takes some force) not impossible amounts of force but a reasonable amount, and then a somewhat creamy breakdown in your hand and application into your hair. This is a very basic recipe, a lot of oil based pomades have like 9 or 10 ingredients this has 3 so it's super basic.
