DIY - Portable Sink

Everything is packed, and I mean everything. Clothing for 7 different types of weather. Food from all over the world. A lamp. Your gold fish from 5th grade. Dobby's sock. Arts and craft supplies. When you travel, you bring everything. Everything but, as some jerk will surely point out, the kitchen sink.
The one thing you cant take with you, the bane of your existence. The sink, laughing at you, an your inability to pack it. Well no longer! Now you really can pack everything and the kitchen sink!
Introducing the Portable PVC Sink... or more accurately, a portable PVC frame, for a collapsible drying rack that when constructed, and combined with with water-cooler jugs and electric water pumps, makes, for all intent and purposes, a sink.
Another thing that would be fun to try, exchange the push buttons faucet handles, to make it look even more like a sink. Perhaps use like a "momentary rotary switch" (potentiometer maybe) or just make some kind of mechanism that takes the twist of the knob/handle and presses a hidden momentary switch.

One suggestion: If you were in a situation where you did not want to drain on the ground, you could situate the drain over one empty 5 gallon jug and dispose the waste water later. Great idea and great video!

1 question I have left is, what diameter hose did u buy / where , which hose is the correct hose to buy for connecting to that water pump dispenser? @IamNickDClements

@@Maedley.Haphenheim Depends a bit on the actually pump you end up getting, but you should be able to find hose at a hardware store (lowe's, homedepot) or a pet store, in the fish take area. They have hose for like tank bubblers and stuff, that would likely work.

I found the wireless1 you have here but no mini hose included. There is a USB version for house use that looks like it does include a hose with it .. could try that , but incase I do want to get the wireless version, what hose do I need for it ? & Is that easy enough to connect to the tap ? @IamNickDClements

When you first dumped out the bag of PVC, I was like "oh heeeeeell no" but after you had everything together, you changed my mind. You seem like that guy at camp that makes it nice to be at camp. I am going to subscribe to your channel. I camper with a group about ten years ago and was "that guy" and built everything out of 5 gallon buckets, my most useful invention...the bucket fan, a ceiling fan torn apart and rebuilt in a bucket with qt bucket lids as blades.... I haven't camped with that group in several years,but was told they still use it. Kudos on the artistic mind

We did this in the 60’s in So Cal when you could still camp on the beach. We used a plastic dish pan from woolworths as the sink. We also had a shower of sorts. I miss the old days.

I'm sure you've already thought of this, but please make sure you have a seperate jug to use as "grey water" so that none of the paint you're rinsing off your hands, or equipment is going into the ground. It needs to go through a sewer system to properly treat it.

I am a professional painter, both in the trade and artistically, and have been properly trained to dispose of paint waste material, which does not include simply dumping down the nearest drain or on the ground. I take all aspects of my work seriously, both because I love what I do, and I try to elevate the status of painters from the low opinion people have for the trade and those who perform it.

Absolutely ingenious. Love the light-weight concept of pvc, but that would be beautiful in copper piping! Just solder a few of the elbows to strategic pipes, and it would go together just as quickly with fewer parts to pack. This is still excellent. Thanks for sharing!

This actually worked! I wanted to put a sink in my laundry room without having to spend so much money on one but I also wanted to get a bit creative with it. The button I soldered onto the pump works, my drain system works, overall, everything works!

love this. I have a pvc frame for my outdoor shower and color coded the legs also. I have my outdoor shower, emergency toilet and pressure washing machine and everything I need to go with them in a 50 gallon tote which is my shower bottom or tub, whichever. Now I can make me a sink to go with it. lol

*_Very_* cool!!! I would keep it near a source of light (next to the car or tent) and possibly heat so it doesn't freeze. Also, I would wrap it - at the least with bungies so that if the sink gets full, the weight doesn't spread the slip joints apart and crash the sink. Bungies - if they're tight enuf (like the black rubber kind) - can act as a curtain rod too. And it can keep your paper towels from flyin' away if you keep it tight against the roll. I would also keep some pebbles or rocks in the hole in the ground to prevent pets from drinking the soapy water out of the puddle. I used to have a similar washing station in my back yard by the faucet and hose and it was all rigged up similar to this. I used it several times a day. Since I moved to an apartment complex, I find myself cussing alot because I can't wash off the dirt from my potting tools and other things that are too big and awkward and filthy to put in my kitchen sink. These come in more handy than most folks realize!

If I ever find myself presented with an opportunity to do such a thing, I most certainly will. But until then I have no doubt that there is already someone there, perhaps even yourself who is fully capability of constructing something just as good, if not better. The great thing about inventing, and building, is, there really is no wrong way to do it. (maybe just some less safe ways...) But it's all about making use of what you have both in regards to material and tools (and knowledge and ability). Don't be afraid to try, but more importantly, don't be afraid to fail - and then try again.
