There is something you can buy at any store that sells sewing notions which is called a bodkin. The bodkin is used specifically to scoot through a tube of fabric to bring a string or unfold

Yes i love bodkins!! I got my first few about a year after this video. I like tube turners even more for chunky straps though

I love this! I just came across this tutorial and this will come in handy for a costume I need to make. What else could I do to make it even more poufy?😊

I'm so glad you enjoyed it. To male it even poofier you could add a layer or two of gathered crinoline underneath and it'll really poof!

Thank you so much for such a quick reply 😊. With your knowledge, would you put a lining between the main fabric and the crinoline?
@ReadyEmKay
@ReadyEmKay Жыл бұрын
@@annmariereid5136 that will depend on the fabric. If it's a jersey/or something that tends to stick, yes. If it's a silkier fabric that won't grab onto the crinoline, no. I would however put lining underneath the crinoline to protect the skin and add comfort, it can get scratchy.

Aw man I’m trying so hard to make this dress for my niece but was hoping to make the skirt floor length! I bought 60” wide fabric and followed the instructions but once folded up it equals 29” which is the length I hoped the skirt to be! So when I cut the triangle corner it’s a tiny circle 😂 I’m not sure if there’s anything I can do to make this work? For it to be floor length

What would you suggest for sleeves? I was going to take my left over lace fabric from the skirt tiers and make a couple simple bell sleeves
@ReadyEmKay

Because of the way the straps are pulled through on this dress conventional sleeves will be difficult. I would either make an undershirt with the lace sleeves to wear with it, or you could attach some frills to the straps to mimick sleeves.

Is that polycotton you used?
@ReadyEmKay
@ReadyEmKay 3 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes it is. It's sort of a heavier weight poly cotton. Almost like pants weight material and weave.

@@ReadyEmKay Thank you! How much of the fabric do you use just for the skirt portion
@ReadyEmKay
@ReadyEmKay 2 жыл бұрын
@@victoriad6678 it depends on how wide the fabric is and how long you want the skirt to be. I would definitely recommend fabric at least 45" wide, 52" would be better. And I would get a yard and a half length of fabric, especially if you want the skirt to be really full.

@@ReadyEmKayhi!! So I have 1.5yds of 45” wide fabric and I can’t for the life of me fold it to look like this? Seems way to small. Do you know how wide your fabric was here?
