Was getting pissed off that my d-pad kept registering the wrong direction, so I opened up the controller and cut the d-pad into 4 parts. Works much better now, but the buttons do rattle around a little. I really want the clicky kit to get more clicky buttons!

I did it in DualShock 4 but I had to glue the dpad parts on a silicone pad so that the buttons wouldn't fall out of the controller. I've played hundreds of hours of Tekken and it still works flawlessly. I will try to transfer my made dpad from dualshock to dualsense.

@@Lex_i_ Yup, all kits are compatible but please make sure to get the kits/shells that are compatible with your controller. You should do the face clicky first since the led is going to going on top of that one.

There's a big difference between those clicky and split D-pad and the original ones for fighting games. PS5's original Dpad is very bad for fighting games because of the one piece Dpad (accidental jumpings, input ...)

Some people have mention that it can be good for fighting games to have the split dpad. I don't play much fighting games but it's cool too know that it works for them.

@@im.a.caveman if you're going to use the Split-Dpad, i highly dont recommend the clicker mod along with it because sliding inputs and Z inputs are very difficult when the buttons are taller, and have less depth travel on button presses, your thumb with get caught on the Dpad. Split-Dpad alone is very good. i wish you could have the clicker mod on the Shapes side and no clicks on the other side

The order I would do it is the triggers first, face clicky second, if you're swapping any buttons then it can be done before you put the black casing on the front shell, and the remap kit would go last. Just make sure you know exactly which controller you have for compatibility. Thanks for watching!

However there are various negative reviews saying that the rubber under the mechanical buttons wear out within 3 to 5 months. So you have to open the controller back and and replace them. Do you have any idea of these issues? . Or heard about them change the system at all? As I really do want these ASAP. But I can't pay someone to replace the rubber for me every time they fail. I don't believe so. It's just for clicky noises. It kinda raises the buttons a little higher too but the main thing is the clickiness.

Does it change the feel? Personally I claw and feel the default buttons to feel mushy, definitely prefer a clicky feel. Looked at BBC but theyre like 280 without back buttons

It does feel different because of the switches. They updated the kit a bit so that it's compatible with 010 and 020. They also added a silicone pad for the dpad instead of the little 4 pads used in this video. The action buttons still use the little pads. Check your controller for compatibility before purchasing. All their kits are compatible with 010 and 020. At the moment only the remap kits have been updated to be compatible with 030. I'm sure they're working on updating the other kits but no eta so far.

So far the only way is by buying a control from hexgaming.com but thats pricey. Or if you're not confident on doing it yourself (though I recommend try it out) maybe someone can help you out. The face clicky button mod and split dpad mod are two different mods that work together. you don't need both. i know, it's about 6 months you asked though.

They were included with the face clicky kit. This was the v1 kit. The V2 has a one piece pad (they include 2) and the action buttons still have separate pads for each button (they include 8). Might do a V2 video since I realized I haven't done a V2 face clicky.

@@im.a.caveman I’ve had two of the v2 pads fail on me. Not allowing the right direction button to work( silicon tears easily). The v1 style is better. I’ve found that the ps4 clicky kit comes with the square or rectangle rubber inserts and are the same as ps5

@@im.a.caveman the silicon pad with v2 just seems cheap thin silicon. The individual rectangle rubber inserts are more durable and makes no sense why they changed to a 1 piece especially when they sell the spd buttons where the 1 piece wouldn’t work .

Wanted to come back with a fix. I found in the extremerate subreddit a poster about 4months ago with the same issue. The left or right dpad appears to be off just ever so slightly causing the button to be less responsive as the others. His solution was to take a piece of paper or greeting card thickness paper and cut into little circles and put in the recessed area between the silicon pad and the button ( his recommendation was to do all buttons) so I did. It works flawlessly now.

The split dpad basically just helps with better inputs which some have said would be good for fighting games. That way they don't accidentally input a different button than the one they intended to. It also has a different feel to it. My example is that the original is more of a mushy feeling and the split dpad is more of a click, if that makes sense. @@BiggieJ4224 It says it's compatible with both when I look at the description on Amazon. But then there's one that also says only compatible with BDM-010. I recommend getting the one that says it's compatible for both. If anything you can get a refund since the description says it'll work. Can't say for sure that my video would help or not. The updated led kit looks almost the same. I had done my led installation last year for BDM-010. Feel free to use my tutorial as a guide. If you do, I hope it helps.

Yeah. When it comes to the face clicky, the original film is going to be replaced with the face clicky. Then you can place the led on top of that one. I'm planning on showcasing my second control with the 4 kits installed but I need to work on the led kit video first.

They rattle around and wiggle as soon as I touch them, the click feels good but the loose D-Pads throws off my button presses sometimes. The PS5 controllers also have loose face buttons, poor quality on all ends. How does your feels, does it rattle when you shake the controller?

Hey caveman, let me start if with saying I love your instruction videos, better than extreme rates in my opinion as you give verbal directions as you do it! But I have a question for you, I bough the split dpad kit and clicky kit for my PS5 controller, the BDM-010, as that’s my version controller, I got the dpad installed well enough, but when I went to do the clicky install, I didn’t get 4 rectangular pieces that go into the back of the split dpad like your video shows, I got 8 identical pieces that are round on one end and perfectly square on the other end. So I messaged extreme rate on my missing rectangle and circular pieces, still waiting for a response from them. In the mean time I went and watched an extreme rate KZbin video on installing the clicky kit, and their video does not show the 4 rectangle piece, they show just the round ones for the other face buttons, then a new 4way dpad rubber gasket. Did extreme rate get rid of the 4 individual rectangle pieces in the kit and replace with this new 1 piece rubber gasket? Any clarification would be greatly appreciated, getting help from extreme rate is not going well, and I have a dissected PS5 now and don’t know what to do….any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you !

Hi! I saw the new clicky kit. Seems they did replace the 4 rectangular pieces for 1 whole silicon pad. I'm sure they'll send your missing pieces. Sounds like your order got messed up and they should help you out. Personally, their customer service has been great. Just give it some time to receive a reply from them. Thank you for your help, I actually just figured that out, apparently I have the v2 kit, didn’t know there was a newer version of this kit, and yes I just watch extreme rates video from 2 weeks ago, they description is for both bdm10 and bdm20, this must be the new kit for both PS5 controllers versions, I’m guessing anyway by their KZbin video description.
