DIY Puffy Sleeve Blouse from Men's Shirt | Thrifted Transformations

I feel like sewing is a dying art, schools dont have classes to learn how to sew anymore. Thank u for making it fun cool creative outlet.

muffin top all community colleges do tho and for around $300 a semester per class. Anyone out of high school can take it. I have for upholstery and that’s where I learned to sew. I didn’t even know how before hand. Then I went to take the fashion sewing class next semester but couldn’t do it time wise at that time. So check that out.

I live in Olympia WA, and just looked through the course catalog for the main community college here, and couldn't find anything related to sewing. Just because it's available where you live doesn't it's available everywhere. That should be obvious

Search Fashion Design Schools in Washington Bates Technical College (Tacoma, WA) • Fashion Design • Small Campus • Urban Setting • $4,164 Tuition Cost • $1,304 Scholarship and Financial Aid Awards 45 min drive. It took me 35 mins to drive in the damn city to get to the community college for fashion/upholstery and went to two separate colleges as one college had the fashion and a different one had the upholstery degree. Regardless if it’s in your zip code there is ALWAYS A COMMUNITY/TECHNICAL college that offers fashion degree where you CAN in fact learn to sew sweetie. So take your nasty ass attitude somewhere else to someone else that will stand for it, because you got the wrong sister here.

We had to learn sewing basics at my secondary school. It didn't cover anything particularly technical but we learned types of stitches, right sides together, basics of sewing machines ect. I guess it depends where you live and the individual curriculums of schools in the area.

That’s funny because I’m actually an engineer, and the first day I bought a machine I made a long sleeve bustier dress with a hook and eye closure down the front. I didn’t watch any tutorials or know anything about sewing. I just looked at a dress online and thought “ hmmm maybe I can make that” 😂

Super cute design! I've always loved plaid, but have found it hard to make it girly. You nailed it! Btw, a true plaid like that is not a print; the color is deep in each thread, not just floating on the surface like in prints. Real plaid doesn't have a wrong side ☺

That's beautiful work. It is not bra-friendly, so I have to think of ways to do something similar, but with more shoulder/bra-strap coverage. I have a huge women's blouse in a nice fabric and colour, and I might try some version of this transformation.
