This is an amazing thing for you to do for us. No hurdles of 'pay me for this information' or the like. Very refreshing. Props to you for seeing the good and going straight there for us. You are appreciated.

Thank you so much ! I have really bad asthma that is sensitive to any air pollution, pollen, dust, etc. I’ve been looking for cheap solutions & this video been very helpful for me 😇

11:56 I was amazed by how well the filter strapped to a desk fan worked! I assumed that there would be too much bypass air since not sealed but for this test that doesn't matter, there's still enough air passing through the filter. I also wondered if it could create enough static pressure to get adequate airflow. It obviously works great.

Thank you! I was shocked to see how much air purifiers cost. As you say, it's a fan + filter + box. I don't understand why they cost so much. I was considering a DIY but first surveyed the cheap ones and did get one but the fan is noisier than I like so I'm now considering to try another or build one. Now that I see that I don't even need a box, just strap it to a fan, that means a lot less effort than mounting a fan and filter into a box.

So informative.. Great work Dr. Good air shouldn't be a luxury. This is so useful for people who cannot afford to buy expensive air purifiers..

I have an air purifier and what I did is that I constructed my own activated carbon filter and zeolite and lava rock filter which improved the air quality tremendously. People were saying as they enter my home. “ it smell fresh in here”.

I am suffering from Eosinophilia and live near a m-sand factory complex !!. This video is so therapeutic after hours of surfing through the expensive brands and their different products, which literally yelled, "if you are not rich, just die'...:-(

Incredible and thank you so much for doing this research. Question though: how often were you replacing the filter?

Thank you for this great video! Do you have a recommendation for a fan other than the EUPA? It doesn't seem to be sold in the US.

This is great. I'm going to tell everyone I know with asthma and allergies. Cities should really have a stock of these supplies in the event of a major bad air event.

How about a dual air purifier regime? One with a cheaper MERV or low HEPA rating to knock down the large particles. When you get home, run that for an hour. Then turn on a higher quality HEPA filter that will reduce the small particles and then maintain the air. Doing this, will you spend less on filter replacements?

could use a simple timer to turn them on and off remotely.

First of all, thanks for uploading such educational and useful content on YT. I have a doubt, rather I'm wondering something, while you showed that this filter decreased the PM counter from 20k to 100, while it was showing 100 reading it was directly in front of fan, doesn't the high speed air coming will naturally show less PM because the particles are moving fast and therefore the laser is not counting them up fully. I'm assuming the laser counter works on something like- the particles hits the laser and breaks it's path, the laser detector measures how much the path is breaking which is proportional to the PM in air. Wouldn't it be a better test to just let the fam run for few hours and then measure the still air of room away from the fan.

At another point he showed the reduction when placed across the room. That's more relevant to the effectiveness of the filter unless you only breathe air from the exhaust side of the filter.

do they have more heart attacks because of the extra particulate in air, or do the two things simply have a common cause?

Okay this is excellent. Now come up with a cheap good way to get rid of the rest of the pollutant in the air, the Nox, VOC, etc, that this won't filter out.
@saphroh Жыл бұрын
DIY activated carbon filters will take care of the VOCs at least

So we are filtering our air with plastic.. housed in plastic...great... I figured you could take (2) 200mm or 140mm pc case fans and strap them to a car air filter.
