Something I learn back in school when I did this stuff, in the body of the worm you can take a few marbles and layer them in with hot glue to keep them stable to weigh down the base.
@theDMsCraft10 жыл бұрын
True, you could really use anything to weight it down.
@TheCaboose5689 жыл бұрын

This is SOOOOO COOOOOL!!!!! I love it because I just a little while ago Got commissioned to do some tyranid terrain and Just in case they didn't like it I made a giant worm similar to this one so It could be seen as either part of a massive underground tendril to an even more giant beast or living complex or it could act as its own "purple worm" if you will in for 40k. The gentleman liked it so much he said He wants first dibs on any future nid builds. Again Scotty you are TOTALLY AWESOME :)!!!

Love this and really enjoying your videos. Learning a great deal. One suggestion would be to reverse the way the plates overlap. The way you have it the worm would have its plates catch as it passes through the earth. You know because reality is important when building GIANT PURPLE WORMS!

This is a great and instructive video, as all of the ones I've looked at have been. I'm currently waiting for my base tissue 'rocks' to dry so I can finish the base and get to painting this sucker. I started about three days ago, working on it for a few hours each day, watching TV or playing on the Xbox while waiting for glue and/or water soaked tissues to dry, as well as working on regular minis. DMScotty's worm is the best I've seen to date, and when done, mine will be pretty darn good as well. I'm so glad a player sent me to this site since his 3-D printer couldn't make it happen. Keep up the great work!

Absolutely fantastic glue gun work. All these years I've been using (and swearing at) modelling putty and tools, trying to make - over days/weeks/months - what you created in just a few minutes with hot glue. I bow before my new Master!!! Thank you so much for posting your seminars. I subscribed at first, just to watch the simple polystyrene castle building, and now I'm learning all over again how to do stuff, after over 45 years of modelling and teaching seminars myself :-D Just wish I could download your tutorials, as watching them is getting addictive already, and I really want to get back to my work table and make something now :-)

I wanted to suggest, if you do want some very sturdy stuff to build the skin with, diaper wipes that have been set out to dry are very very sturdy and do not break at all under getting wet :). Good show this time!
@DeviousDungeonsPainting11 жыл бұрын
I do have a tip that may help. When I do the glue/sand technique, after the glue is dry and you dump the excess sand off I always take a large soft brush and gently brush away any sand that may just be barely hanging on. That way you do not have to worry about it falling off after you have painted it and dont have to go back and touch it up.

Thank you for this tutorial, DM Scotty! I love making sculptures of monsters so this was a delight to watch. If you're ever looking to try a new clay brand, Creative Paper Clay is awesome; it's got a nice texture and it dries really strong; you can sculpt it really easily with a little water smoothed on your finger. I'd love to see more diy monster sculptures in the future; there might be a remorhaz in my campaign so I've been watching this for reference.
