Really good stuff! If I could offer some advice though, it's not a good idea to have a glove on your left hand whilst using a drop saw...in a mishap your skin will rip and hopefully you will pull away. A glove on the other hand will catch and pull your hand into the saw. I don't mean to patronise but I can't see that and not say something. Hoping this is recieved well. Cheers. Ciarán

I came across your video while looking for a planter box to build at my wife's request. This one checks all the boxes. Beautiful job and very functional.
@ryanmcintyre5885 жыл бұрын
I just built one of these with my girlfriend. She’s been planting so much, I modified the dimensions to make it bigger and since it’s going on our balcony with minimal drainage, I added a bucket/tray holder for the water to drain into and not get all over our floor.

Question for you: now that you are a year in would you mind commenting on how your drainage system is working?

Love the drainage concept. Are there any issues with using the plastic lining causing moisture buildup that will harm the herbs? I know some will drain, but there will not be any air circulation.
@joymiramontes90512 жыл бұрын

One question. Does it make sense to replace your wood with the cheapest pine OR even plywood stripes AND cover with some oil or poly protective liquid? Just to make the project cheaper and eligible for multiple repeating? Cause I'm considering to make a sort of Planter Box Garden in my backyard. Wouldn't it be looking cheap with pine/plywood?
@phillipbell75 жыл бұрын
I built my planter box and love it. I used pine wood instead of cedar but it looks great! Thanks for the plans!

Exceptionally beautiful build! Question: I don't understand the fabric? It's under the plastic and how is it doing anything to block soil? I think it's to stop saturation around the four holes. Yet the holes are over the PVC?

Your planter box is one of the nicest I've seen on KZbin. And you have done an excellent job with this video. I will be making something like this, but am concerned about expansion and contraction with the sides and legs glued and screwed as you've done. How is your planter holding up?

Ever think about creating a planter box with plexiglass sides and then a removable wood panel siding on all 4 sides? By removing a wood panel siding then you could see the growth of the plant through the plexiglass. I don’t know if it’s possible, it’s just an idea I just wonder if you would ever do a project like that.

Great job Brad. Came out looking great. Really like the warm glow of the finish
@tacooflove61754 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna try and make this here soon but my modifications would be to angle the slats to the water flows to the drain and the other is to use gravel at the bottom then soil to help with drainage as others have complained about root rot and I have bird netting to keep them away so I may add two poles up the back to staple the netting too 🤔
Love your tools. Great craftmanship. Seems like a lot of work though for a small return of planting a half dozen plants.

I really really need to get into wood working. I suffered a work injury in 2013. 3 surgeries later I am in worse shape now. I am on disability and because I can not work I also suffer from depression. Wood working has always been a passion of mine. Being that i am off work and did not receive any money for the first 2 years of my disability I had to sell a few of my more valuable tools. The only real saw I managed to keep is my Ridgid 12" mitre saw. Now that I receive a little disability amount plus my wife's small income I need to get back into wood working again. Living in Canada where tools are really expensive it makes it tough but I keep looking through the local buy and sell I am hoping to find a table saw plus some other wood working tools so I can start to get some sanity back. I was used to working around 60 hours a week when i was employed to nothing makes me a little stir crazy. I have even tried talking to Home Depot, Ridgid and other tool companies to see if I could get some tools for a cheaper price " not that they owe it to me", I thought I would try. Unfortunately that did not get me anywhere. Anyways sorry to talk about my life on this channel, at least I get to watch channels like Brads and have some ideas when I can get back into it.

what kinda of plastic did you use for the liner? not the weed barrier but the actual black plastic. I'm having a hard time finding it in the store.
