DIY Raptor Grill Complete Install: 2015 Ford F150 Lariat Limited

In this video I take you through how to install the Raptor Style Grill on a 2015 Ford F150 Lariat. This install should work for most F150s from 2015-2017.

I purchased the grill off of Ebay for $84.32 including tax and shipping. The listing isn't available any longer but give Ebay a try. I had good results and it came with the F and the R letters in the box.
By day I'm a Functional Medicine Doctor and Chiropractic Physician. Outside of the office I have a lot of different hobbies and interests. Thanks so much for this!!! I spent ages trying to find the dang bulb wire. I just removed the air filter housing to get to the plug though. Was much faster then pulling the headlight. Also Quick splice clip worked fine for me.

I have a camera on the front of my Lariat, could that still be mounted on this grill?

No there's no mount for the front camera on this grill. With that said you can try to modify, which is what I did. I rarely use the front camera however. The real raptor has the camera mounted on the outside of the grill so I doesn't have to peek between the O and the R.

Thank you. I did another video where I hooked the LED lights up on a toggle switch in the cab. That worked out a lot better.

I had to replace the lights with a different set of LEDs. They simply plugged right in. They are still working today.

What happened with the camera

The camera still works but on that aftermarket grill there was not a front camera mounting spot like with the original grill. So it "rigged" it the best I could. When I put the truck in reverse the front camera comes on but you can see some of the letters from the grill. I find that I rarely used it anyway so not a big deal to me.

Complete rigged it. It's not perfect by any means. I can see through the letters but just barely. I find myself hardly ever using the front camera anyway so it's a non issue.

Just put my grille on my Lariat and was wondering why I couldn't see the easy parking bulb everyone was talking about! Not sure how I feel about the work I gotta do to get to that plug! LOL

It is just the parking lights. Turn and bulb holder, turn it, comes right out. It is next to the grille it's self. Tap into wire.

So I can’t get mine to come on at all. some other video had me tap the parking lights. I have aftermarket headlights with DRLS and would prefer it be that way anyway. Had me wondering the wiring connectors are crap. How did you know yours had to be cut and spliced? I did what you did on my 2013 bc of that same issue. I was thinking no way this new set is just as bad lol.

Yeah the grill I bought was great but the LEDs that came with it were crap. So (in another video) I completely removed the old LEDs and put in new ones for the grill. But this time I rewired the lights on the grill to a toggle or rocker switch mounted to the left of the steering wheel inside the cab. That way I can control the ON/OFF and no more splicing into the driver side headlight wiring connector. Pain in the ass! Yeah I noticed the same thing when I was looking for videos for a reference when I did mine. Nothing seemed to match up. So that's why I made the video to hopefully help. I think the grill part is straight forward but the lights were where the challenge was. I would hook it up to a rocker switch inside the cab and hook it to the fuse box. I did a video on that as well. I wanted the ability to turn the three little amber lights on and off at my leisure.

No that's the problem with these after market grills they don't account for a mounting spot for the front camera. The "real raptors" have a mount that is literally on the outside of the grill between the O and the R letters. I found I rarely use my front camera anyway. But it sure would be nice.

Yeah that's a tough one. There really wasn't any videos that matched up with my light configuration. I tried to find the best wiring diagram and went off of that.

It still works but you need a special mount. I just kind of rigged it. Truthfully I don't use it that much at all so no big loss.

I actually have a new video coming out where I completely rewire the raptor grill lights and put them on a toggle switch. Be on the lookout for it. It's a two part series. First part is disconnecting it from the main headlight wiring harness. Second part is showing you how I wired it with an inline fuse.

Good to know, hard wire it. I have the same truck same color and everything i put the grill in and the lights are not hooked up yet. Going to get the pros to do it. It’s too much of a pain in the ass! But I’m glad it worked out for you looks solid. Now you need a 6” lift like mine 🤣

Boy you aren't kidding. I have 3" spacers and running 35x12.5 and I get a little rubbing.

I don’t do spacers i had a 2002 f150 on 3” spindle left w/ 2” spacers, even with locktite my wheels came off while driving at 60mph. Wheel spacers are scary. Stay safe though!
