Thanks for sharing, very nice project, kudos on mixing engineering and electeonics. Your son had some very nice time sailing the boat!

This is great. Can you add the file for the anti-ventilation plate you mentioned in the video? Also you mentioned using a 1106 brushless 4200kv motor, is that the same bolt pattern?
@MakerFabio Жыл бұрын
Hi I m now out for holiday Next week i ll check the bolt pattern dimension and let you know And also check on the pc for the anti ventilation plate

This could probably be improved using a motor with a smaller circumference and taller stator

Thanks, Correct, i already purchased a 1106 brushless 4200kv motor

Nice project, but these motors are notorious for getting waterlogged. In Thailand, all the boats on the river place the engine on-board, and then run a twenty foot long driveshaft down to the water. No seal, nothing to fail. They put a joystick on the entire V-8 engine block to steer the boat. No rudder either.

Hi I love the thailand mud motors , so essential. I will build one sooner or later. But I wanted something looking like the motors we have here in Italy. Is now 6 months Im using it at least 3 times per week and the motor is still running smooth with corrosion x and nautical grease. So i really like it and i think is reliable. If it will eventually fail in 1 year (maybe nust the bearing ) i will replace it

@@MakerFabio Your motor looks great! Keep up the good work. I don’t have enough patience to do what you’re doing!

@@ronliebermannLong tail boats are only fun for a few rides. They are exhausting to control and not every efficient. A mercury outboard will destroy any Longtail mud motor. Outboards are the future in electric and super charged v12s that can bring a 63ft boat to 80mph. Something a mud motor cannot do. Mud motors also need lots of maintenance.
@ronliebermann9 ай бұрын
@@beerforyourhorses3812 Good points. But remember that batteries don’t have much energy. The energy density of gasoline is fifty times higher than a lithium battery. That won’t change anytime soon. And if you add water injection to an engine, the energy density of gasoline is a hundred times higher than batteries. There’s no comparison. With water injection, Detroit engines could easily get eighty miles to the gallon.

The idea of having motor, receiver and servo all in the same unit is very smart. This way you can power any floating thing within 1 minute into a rc boat. Well done!! Just some idea to make the motor print stronger. Slice the motor over the symetric center line. Now you can print the left and right half separate and glue them together later. This way all layerlines are in the right direction ( over the length of the motor body) and give a much stronger result
@MakerFabio2 жыл бұрын
Very good Idea, thanks Maybe i will struggle a little with cleaning support in the center hole , the one for servo. But it is internal so even if it come not too clean it s ok I ll give it a try with a new small 1106 motor i just purchased

@@MakerFabio Hi, last weekend I did make your outboard the way I told you to by printing two halfs. Works perfectly. Glued together. Works very good and is very strong this way. I had some "problem" with the hole for the tiller arm being blocked by support But with a drill that has been solved quick. The rest of the support will just break away as normal. And If you want you can also make area's in cura were support will not get printed. To do this you first need to tell it to make support. And then you can add little cubes from the menu that you can scale and move. these need to be placed on area's you don't want support so if a hole needs to keep free of support make sure you add a cube that will be bigge than the total volume of the hole and make sure to position the cube in a way that the total hole is inside this cube in 3 directions.
